24 Episode 8 & 9

Monday, February 12th, 2007

1:00pm–2:00pm

Let me begin by saying that the episode was interrupted multiple times because of a shooting in Salt Lake, so I didn’t see everything.

I liked what I saw of the first episode, it was intense. Morris stood his ground as long he could. Fayed drilled his back for heaven’s sake! But, one thing I was thinking. If Morris is so amazingly smart at just about everything he does. Couldn’t he have programmed the trigger to make it look like it worked when in reality it wouldn’t when tried? Then again I did miss most of the dealings of Fayed and Morris, so I have no idea what went on outside of the drilling and Fayed killing Rita.

Burning ‘24′ Questions Answered

Monday, February 12th, 2007

TV Guide has a great interview article on some of the burning questions about 24. They interviewed Jon Cassar and Kiefer Sutherland to get the information on some of the most interesting questions regarding 24.

Will Audrey be back? What will happen to Jack in the end? Why don’t 24 characters ever eat? Those questions, and more answered. Some answers are more cryptic than others, but you get the idea.

The thing I don’t understand is why do so many people have a problem with the idea that they never see people in 24 eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom? When we are watching we are only focusing on one person. Other people can be doing all kinds of stuff while the camera is away from them.

Here’s one of the biggest reveals from the interview:

Without revealing any names, how many cast members start this season but don’t make it to the end?
“I know of three for sure,â€? Cassar says. “The plan isn’t to bump off characters like we did last season. But we still kill people off.â€?

Three people for sure aren’t making it to the end. WOW! Who will it be?

So, last week we found out that Jack’s Dad is the overall mastermind of whatever is going on with this day.

We also, witnessed Morris being kidnapped by McCarthy, because apparently among Morris’ many skills programming nukes is one.

So, what are we to expect these next two back-to-back episodes?

Does anyone have any guesses? Your guesses are as good as mine. 2 full hours of 24, it’s going to be a doozy.

Put down your predictions if you’d like, and tune back in tonight for the review.

Episode 8 & 9 Preview

Friday, February 9th, 2007

This is something I haven’t done on here, but I’ve been meaning to. After every episode, and during the entire week FOX shows fast-paced previews for the next week. I want to be able to discuss those previews and see what everyone thinks about them.

I know that some people find the previews “Spoilerish,” so if you do don’t watch them. But, I assure you these are the previews from FOX, so they’re shown all the time.

Now, if you’ll watch the 2 previews (I put 2 up because they are both a little different) and then after the jump we can discuss what happened in them.

24 Graveyard (Episode 7)

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

Finally Jack added someone else to his kill count by killing Graem’s henchmen. Unfortunately he didn’t kill them both, his Dad killed one:

Then Jack’s Dad went and killed Graem. You know what that means? Jack’s kills are at 3 and his Dad’s are at 2. He could give Jack a run for his money:

‘24′ Movie Definitely Postponed, Kiefer Doing “Mirrors”

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

After all the hype and excitment surrounding the 24 movie it seems like it’s never going to happen.

Yes the official word is that it’s being postponed. Kiefer has signed on to do a movie called “Mirrors,” during the hiatus from 24. The same hiatus when Kiefer and the 24 team were supposed to film the movie.

Whenever news stories like this come out, it seems like it’s just the higher-ups trying to soften the blow, for when they come out and say the entire idea has been scrapped.

For me personally I wouldn’t be heartbroken if they were to shelve the idea of the movie. I keep thinking about it and just can’t figure out a way the movie would work and have the same affect the television show has.

24 Episode 7: 12:00p.m.–1:00p.m.

Monday, February 5th, 2007

Last week’s episode was definitely leading up to this episode. We found out a lot of stuff this time around.

President Wayne seems to not be as dumb as the Character Countdown makes him out to be. He knows that Tom Lennox had something to do with Karen’s resignation. That restored some of my faith in him. After he shot down Tom’s proposal a second time, I’m really starting to regain some respect for him, but he’s got a hill to climb still.

We were also introduced the Vice President this episode, played by Powers Boothe. I’m scared of him. Just looking at him, remembering him from Deadwood and Sin City, this guy always plays characters that are very dark, and very dangerous and this Vice President seems like he’s going to be carrying on the Powers Boothe namesake.

At CTU things are just starting to get interesting. It seems for the time being that Milo and Morris of stopped their bickering, which is a welcome change. But, now we find out that Morris is the engineer for the nuke. He’s not a mole, but he’s a person that can program the nuke if they are able to coerce him. This is going to be Fayed’s first big mistake I think. Morris may be a little arrogant, but a traitor he is not. There’s no way any amount of torture could make Morris program a nuke, I’m 100% sure of that.

The most revealing part of the episode was Jack torturing Graem. Wasn’t that weird? At one moment Jack’s about to rip Graem’s head off and then the next moment Jack’s holding him close like a loving brother would telling him to “breathe. I thought that was a wonderful scene of showing that Jack, even though he knows his brother is bad, still actually has a soft side. Jack is losing his torture technique.

Finding out that Jack’s Dad is the real bad guy was actually surprising for me. When he went into see Graem in the last five minutes of the episode, I knew that something crazy was going to happen. Even then I didn’t expect him to kill his son, and I didn’t expect them to both be in on everything that was going on.

Jack did find out that Graem was behind the killings of President Palmer, Tony, and Michelle, for which I am glad. I’m glad we can put those storylines to rest now. Everyone knows who did it, it’s nice to be able to move on.

But, now Morris is kidnapped, Powers Boothe is creepy beyond all reason, and Jack’s Dad is the overlord in disguise. Couldn’t you just picture him saying, at the end “That’ll do Graem, that’ll do.

Last we left Jack and his Dad were being carted away by his nasty brother’s henchmen.

So, what’s going to happen tonight? What can we expect?

Well, I’m sure that Jack’s kill count will rise tonight, that’s for sure. He’s got to escape from those two guys, which means probably killing them. What am I saying ‘probably,’ he’ll kill them no doubt.

I’m also betting that this is the episode where Graem’s wife, that seems to have a past with Jack, becomes more involved in the story and same with Josh Graem’s (or Jack’s) son.

Everything else is up in the air. I’m betting Fayed also finds a new programmer for his nukes, but I can’t be sure about that.

It’s set up to be a great one tonight. Remember to tune in after the show to read and comment on the review, and then tune in tomorrow afternoon to see the Character Countdown.

Also, for anyone that wants to check out the preview for tonight’s episode, here’s the YouTube vid.

More Contests to Come!

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

Well, yesterday was the last day to enter your guesses for the Jack Bauer Kill Count Contest. I really don’t need to mention it because it seems to me that pretty much every number is taken. Thanks for all of you that entered in the contest. I can’t wait to see who wins, and am sad that it can’t be me.

It’s tough to say at this time where Jack’s kills are going to end up. He’s only killed two people, but he’s just getting madder so it’s only a matter of time until the body count rises I think.

Also, for those of you that didn’t get to enter don’t you worry, we’ll be having another contest shortly where you can win season 5 DVD set of 24. Sound good? We’ve already given away one in an earlier contest, and we’re set to give away another in a few weeks. So, stay tuned to Watching24.com for the details.
