The Two Faces of Kidron

Friday, January 30th, 2009

bragaGood morning, everyone and happy Friday. So, before I sign off for the weekend, I wanted to fill you in a kinda cute story I found while browsing 24 forums. It’s from the Akron-Beacon Journal website and talks about last week’s episode. Specifically, the last segment where Dubaku decides he needs a new plot to get through to the President.

If you remember, he ordered his terror!computer geek to hack into a chemical plant… a plan that would lead to thousands of casualties (and a big blow to Taylor’s stance on not backing down at all). Well, it turns out there is a real Kidron and the executive producer used to live near there. It’s pretty different from the real one, though. And not as attractive a target, casualties-wise. Read on to see how.

I think it’s nice that Braga decided to give a little nod to a place he grew up near and like that he decided not to use a place that’s too well-known. Still, should be interesting to see what stories come out afterwards if Dubaku actually succeeds in his plot. I also found out from the article this one was written before the writer’s strike came along and messed everything up. If the producers (and everyone else involved) are to be believed, the quality of the episodes should start getting better soon. So what do you all think? Did you like this episode? Do you think it’s a good idea or a bad idea for them to use a real location? I guess that’s about it for now. Take care and I’ll see you guys again on Monday.

24 Graveyard

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Good morning, again. I was going to bring back the Character Kill Count last week (per a comment request) but wouldn’t you know it? That episode didn’t feature a single death! They made up for it this week, so here is the rundown for episode 6:

RIP

peterwingfieldakaemerson

Emerson, Leader of the group that Tony has been working for.
Killed by: Tony
Weapon used: A gun.
Will be missed: Not really.

carlypopeakasamantha

Samantha, Ex-Girlfriend of the First Son
Killed by: Brian the evil SS Agent
Weapon used: A knife
Will be missed: Definitely. I think she had potential.

warrenkoleakabrian

Brian, The Evil SS Agent
Killed by: First Gentleman Henry Taylor
Weapon Used: He knocked Brian over the railing.
Will be missed: Yeah… he was pretty hot.

Litvak
Killed by: Tony
Weapon Used: Gun
Will be missed: Not by me.

Random Airline Passengers
Killed by: Dubaku’s orders
Weapon Used: Another plane.
Will be missed: We never even knew em, so no. I’m guessing Taylor will, though. After the second attack happens, she’ll need all the voters she can get.

TerrorMinion
Killed by: Tony
Weapon Used: A gun
Will be missed: Not a chance.

So, the final count for this episode is 262 people. By comparison, the count was only 9 people total for the first 5 episodes. Also, there were two episodes (10-11AM and 12-1PM) where there was no one killed at all. So, what do you all think? Are you going to miss any of these characters? Be sure to comment and let me know so we can chat about it. Take care and I’ll see you all next time.

Episode 6 Recap

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Good morning, everyone! How about that episode Monday? For those who missed it, here is a little rundown on what you missed. I’m gonna go group by group this time.

Rouge CTU

The episode opens with the calvary (Bill and Chloe) to the rescue, just barely saving Renee from suffocating. She, of course, what’s to know who on earth they are while I’m still wondering how on earth Jack or Tony was able to let them know exactly where she was and that she was buried under plastic and dirt. Bill explains that they are working for Jack and he sent them to rescue her. Later on, after they get her perfectly cleaned up (wow, they’re good for an indie operation), she tells them she wants to call Agent Moss to let him know she’s alright. Bill doesn’t like that idea and tells her so, but Renee doesn’t care because she works for the FBI, not them. She wants a phone now. He once again explains that they can’t trust anyone at this point and risk the wrong people finding out she’s alive. That seems to settle her down and she stops demanding phone time. Bill then gets a call from Jack letting him know they have Matobu and wife. Later, Chloe helps the Matobus prepare for their meeting with Dubaku by playing tracking devices in the teeth (by the way… love the look he gave when Chloe says she’s not FBI-she’s a stay at home mom).

The White House

Let’s just get this over with, shall we? I’m sure by now you can repeat the gist of this with me: Her advisors want to pull out, but Taylor refuses. She won’t negotiate with terrorists… you get the drill. This time, though, she actually gets a little phone time with Dubaku. He’s not happy she hasn’t met his demands yet and tells her to look out her window. She, Ethan and the SOS all look out the window in time to see two planes have crashed into each other (read the countdown for my thoughts on that one…) This leads to yet another meeting with the cabinet in which they aruge over the wisdom of invading right now. The SOS is furious she won’t reconsider and walks out in protest at her suggestion. After he leaves she gives a nice long speech about being a force of a good and setting an example of strength, etc. Which is all well and good IF YOU HAVE MATOBU! Since he’s not likely to be found in the next hour, pretending to back down temporarily seems like a decent idea. He and Ethan later talk about the situation. I wonder if we’re about to see a certain amendment invoked again… Meanwhile, the President’s husband is incapacitate and can do nothing as he watches Samantha get killed (in a pretty nasty way, I might add. Boo to Brian. I liked her…) Brian then takes the knife and puts it in Henry’s hand to get his fingerprints on it. I can only assume Ethan’s phone call demanding that Henry be brought back and yelling at him for even letting the man near Samantha again threw Brian off his evil game. He doesn’t seem to notice or take any extra care as the effects of the drug Henry was given wear off. Just before Brian does the deed, Henry manages to knock them both off a staircase, his fall being broken by the former dirty agent, who has just hopped into the death pool. Let’s just hope Henry manages to get out of there before agent #2 comes a-knocking.

The Bad Guys

After leaving Renee in the ditch, Emerson and Crew head to the spot where they are going to deliver the Matobus with Jack asking questions. Namely, how it’s going to go down and what the deal with Tony’s rescue was. I guess they have a lower exposition quota this time, because Emerson only agrees to answer one question and the answer leaves me going ‘huh’? Apparently, Henderson managed to purposefully miss Tony’s artery to keep him alive so he can be turned against Jack and work with them. The same guy who was involved in Palmer and Michelle’s deaths. Who tried to kill other co-workers and friends of Tony. Sure…. they’re much better than that evil government. Hey… at least they don’t kill and plot against their own. This whole explanation doesn’t even make Tony blink, which is even more confusing since it implies he already knew that all. Why’d he work with them at all again? Ok, I’ll stop. I promise. Once they get to the meeting spot, things get bad. Emerson holds Jack at gunpoint, leading to a confrontation with Tony that sends Emerson wading into the death pool as well. Not before he tells Tony to go to hell, though. Tony, for his part, seems almost sad about the whole situation, but he pulls it together to make the trade off, explaining away the lack of Emerson and others. The absences don’t sit well with the guy, who also gets into a fight with Tony. This time, Jack helps Tony from the shadows without the other bad guys knowing and Tony gets the upper hand, telling them to take the Matobus and get out. He wants them to leave the diamonds for him, though.

Dubaku, meanwhile is planning his next move, having decided that the President must insane on top of stubborn to ignore his demands at this point. He decides an even larger demonstration than the crash near the White House is in order. He’s launching some sort of attack on a town in Ohio next. And that’s about it for that episode. Stay tuned for more on this episode and any other news out there. For now, I leave you with a preview for next week. Enjoy and see ya tomorrow.

Best Line of the Night Award: Awarded to Tony for saying “Now, let’s put that behind us” after disarming a bad guy.

The “Amen” award goes to: Dubaku for saying what we’ve all been thinking when he implied the president was insane.

The Idiot of the Year Award: Is awarded to Emerson for basically admitting to Jack that they manipulated everything to lure Tony over to the terrorist side. If he wasn’t already killed, I’d put money on Jack having a… private conversation with him over that one.

The “Say What” award: Given to the writers for basically expecting us to believe the terrorists were able to, yet again, pretend to be ATC and fly two planes into each other. Considering they have already ordered many planes grounded, I’d say the FBI or someone has been in touch with pilots and would’ve warned them about listening to everyone who gives them directions.

Carlos On the Record

Monday, January 26th, 2009

character-countdown-logoGood morning, everyone!! Another week, another new episode on the way! I think this week, I will be posting the Character Countdown on Tuesday instead, followed by mole hunt and other features before posting a recap since so many people seem to enjoy them so much. Speaking of the Character Countdown, the search for a new logo is over! I wanted to go ahead and debut it for you now, as a thank you. It was created by a reader who wants to be credited as commanderlock:

character-countdown-logo Thanks again for the great logo! I’ll be putting it to good use! In other news… I’m sure you remember that story I told about Carlos and the writer’s room. Well, there’s a transcript of an interview when he tells it. It’s a nice interview and there’s not any real spoilage for those of you who have watch all the episode that aired so far. Actually, you’re probably safe even if you only saw the first 3 or 4. My only issue is they talk about exploring Tony’s dark side and he and Jack being at odds. They were on ‘opposite sides’ for only what, 2 or 3 episodes, before Jack joined up with him to help and all along Jack didn’t really fully believe Tony was bad. I hope they end up playing with this a bit later on, because that was one of my favorite aspects of Tony being back. So far, I feel like it’s been a bit of a wasted opportunity and think the promotion of Tony has been a bit misleading. I will say, though, that one fight where he brings up Teri was awesome. Here’s hoping we get something like that again at some point.

So what do you guys think? Are you happy with how it’s going? Are you hoping for a shift in the Tony story? Be sure to comment and let me know.

Change in Plans….

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

So, I was all ready to start writing a post about the kill count when I realized something: I think this is one of the few episodes where someone wasn’t killed (at least on screen). Sure, the first husband and his son’s ex have one foot in the death pool, but they’re not there yet and anything can happen on this show. The Mutobo’s guard seemed like he was about to hop in the pool as well until the FBI called and they moved one to more important matters.

So, why not go on a mole hunt instead? I never really bothered with Brian and any other agents in the SS on this show. I figure if the kid’s agent was dirty, there’s every chance other ones are too. (What’s up with all the moles in there and in the FBI/CTU anyway? Haven’t they heard of little things called background checks?) So, let’s look at people not in the SS….

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say someone in the AG’s office is dirty. Otherwise, it seems a bit odd for them to be so wrapped up in Renee’s breech of protocol at a time like this. Seems like that case would go on the backburner. Especially when the agent in question having been captured.

Sean is still not winning any points with me and seems to be kinda half-assing his job right now. Although, I will say I think his mistress may be involved in the conspiracy as well.

I still wonder about the President’s CoS and SoS. They seem to be looking for any excuse possible to stop the whole Sangala invasion.

Renee is either dirty or the most hard-core chick out there. She showed not one bit of fear and was practically daring Jack. If she’s not dirty, I kinda adore her.

cherry-jonesAnd now… my (other) totally out there, crazy pick:President Taylor. Yes, I’m calling her out too! Ms. President seems a bit too into her Sangala invasion. It wouldn’t kill em to postpone the mission for a bit, would it? At least until the CIP device is found and/or the thing is made useless in about 6 days. See, Taylor? It’s not that hard. Why all the whining and speechifying?

So, what do you all think? Am I off? Am I right? Post your own guesses below.

Episode 5 Character Countdown

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Good afternoon. I’m back as promised with the countdown for this week. If you’d like to read over the recap for the episode first, here’s the link. And now… let’s get on with the countdown!

Jack Bauer (137)
-Taking a huge risk by gassing out the Prime Minister and his Wife (+12)
-Managing to not blow his cover while Renee was lecturing him (+12)
-Fooling Emerson and crew by pretending to shoot Renee (+10- had to take points off for lack of originality, though. He did almost the same exact thing with Nina in Season 1)
Gain/Loss: +34
=== 171

Janis Gold (117)
-Lying to the AG guy (+18- I really didn’t like him!)
-Being the only one apparently with the brains to realize Moss is hot for Walker (+9)
-Showing emotions other than nervousness or sarcasm (+12)
-Actually admitting what she did for Renee to Sean (-14. So much for that brain power from earlier. Especially if he’s the mole)
Gain/Loss: + 25
=== 142

Larry Moss (114)-Lecturing Renee about the torture charges (+8)
-Telling off the guy from the AG’s office (+20. Again… really don’t like that guy!)
-Getting Janis temporarily off the hook (+9)

=== 151

Renee Walker (139)
-Disobeying her boss and turning her phone off on him to find Jack and Tony (+16)
-Getting caught by the terrorists (-9)
-Keeping cool and defiant while being captured (+18)
-Apologizing to the Prime Minister and his wife for her failure (+9)
-Trying a guilt trip on Jack, who she thinks is an evil terrroist (-8)
Gain/Loss: +26
=== 165

Sean Hillinger (87)
-Turning out to be a cheating creep (-19)
-Wearing a smug little smile through that reveal (-10)
-Helping Janis trace the call that refers to Renee (+9)
-Being kinda hot (+8)
Gain/Loss: -12
=== 75

President Taylor (103)
-Refusing to back down to terrorists (+15)
-Constantly whining while defending her invasion plan (-9)
-Making me almost fall asleep this week (-10)
Gain/Loss: -4
=== 99

Henry Taylor (113)
-Pushing ahead with the investigation to clear his son’s name (+20)
-Not filling his wife in on what’s going on (-9. Don’t these people learn anything? Unless you’re Jack, working alone is a good way to reserve a hop into the death pool.)
Gain/Loss: +11
===124

Tony Almieda (122)
-Spending a lot of the episode being Jack’s bitch (-8)
-Still wearing that outfit (+14)
-Actually speaking for himself a few times to try and save Renee (+17)
-Pointing out to Jack they might kill the Prime Minister with his little plan (+12)
Gain/Loss: +35
=== 157

Mutobu (100)
-Refusing to give the terrorists information (+13)
-Being willing to sacrifice himself before he’d hurt his country (+14)
-Not insisting on a more secure ‘safe room’ (-9)
Gain/Loss: +18
====118

Mrs. Mutobo (100)
-Thinking it’s ok to sacrifice the guard for Sangala, but not herself (-10)
-Opening the Safe room and allowing them to be captured (-10)
Gain/Loss: -20
====80

Brian (100)-Taking a gamble and suggesting they go to the President (-9)
-Giving away the whole plan like some cheesy super villain (-14)
-Poisoning the First Gentlemen and maybe offing the only interesting member of the Taylor family (-10)
-Looking good while being bad (+10)
Gain/Loss: -23
====77 (corrected score)

Weekly Awards:

Most Efficient Lawyers Ever Award- Given to Tanner’s lawyers for managing to have a full scale investigation in Renee’s interrogation of him in less than one hour. Now that’s speedy service!

The McGuyver Award- Given to Jack Bauer for managing to make a deadly gas out of the cleaning products in the Prime Minister’s Home.

Worst Contractors Ever Award- Given to whoever put together that ‘safe room’. Shouldn’t the ventilation system be just a little harder to attack? I mean, really…

The Best Timing Ever Award: Given to the FBI for calling and interrupting the execution of the Mutobo’s guard.

So, there you have it: the character countdown! Do you all agree? Any points you’d give out/take away to people? Let me know! Take care and see ya next time!

Admitting a Problem is the First Step…

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Hello again! I wanna thank everyone for their comments and apologize to those who asked questions awhile back that I didn’t answer until yesterday. I didn’t see them until the new wordpress look came into effect. That said- let’s get down to business, huh?

So, I’m used to watching shows from people like Joss Whedon who tend to pretend everything is great and refuse to acknowledge when they do stupid things with their plots. In fact, when a particular season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was widely mocked, he claimed people just ‘didn’t get it’. That’s why I was so happy to read a story shared on some forums yesterday. Apparently, Carlos Bernard did a radio interview and talked about visiting the writer’s room occasionally. One day, he walked in and saw them all wearing t-shirts that said the words ‘season 6′ on them. When he asked what was up with that, he was told they were wearing them to remind themselves of all the problems last season and shame themselves into never letting such bad writing happen again.

Now, from what I remember of Season 6, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Was it great? No. I remember being pretty bored at some points by what they were doing. Still, I think it’s awesome that they are taking that criticism so seriously and they aren’t just pretending it’s not their fault at all for fans and others not really enjoying that season. Here’s hoping other writers follow their example. So what does everyone else think. Was season 6 bad? Are you wondering what all the complaining was about? Be sure to comment and let me know. Take care and I’ll see you later on today with another post. For now, I leave you with a couple of clips of Kiefer on the Jimmy Kimmel show, thanks to the show’s official youtube channel. Enjoy em!

Jon Gets Grilled

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

jonGood morning, everyone! I hope y’all enjoyed the new episode, I know I did. So, has anyone ever heard of the show Shatner’s Raw Nerve? If you haven’t, here’s the scoop: It’s a talk show hosted by the former Star Trek actor. In it, he interviews celebrities (sometimes good friends of his) in a very casual setting. They’re usually sitting in chairs facing each other. The whole point behind the show is he asks about things the usual late night people wouldn’t and gets down deep into the psyche of the stars. A lot of the time, he’ll get them to admit to something or other and you can just tell they’re sitting there thinking “I can’t believe he just got me to say that!”

Last night, he interviewed his friend John Voight. (Ya know, Jonas Hodges from the 2-hour movie. He’s supposed to be making an appearance or two during the season as well) It was a pretty good interview. They spent the hour talking about everything from his movies to his divorces to current events. At one point, John cracked me up with his response to Shatner drilling him about gas prices and other similar issues. He seemed to get into it for a second, but finally just threw up his hands and jokingly (I think!) begged Shatner to back off those questions because ‟I’m just an actor‟. I thought that was pretty cool for him to actually say something like that. There are many actors out there who are only too happy to go on about issues all the time, whether they know a lot about them or not. Anyway… it was a great interview and John seemed to have a good time doing it. If you wanna catch it for yourself, check out the repeat tonight at 11:30 PM. You can also see full episodes on the bio website.

Day 7, 12 PM to 1 PM Recap

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Good morning! I’m back and here to give you a recap of the latest episode in case you didn’t get to see it. It opens up with Jack, Tony and the rest of Emerson’s gang at the Prime Minister’s residence, trying to get one of his men to open the safe room. Since the room can only be opened from inside, Emerson has them hack into the video phone system and informs him that the guard will be killed if he and his wife don’t come out in the next minute. Naturally, the guard and the PM refuse. Emerson is just about to kill the guard when a call comes in from the FBI. He and some of the others decide they have to leave now. Jack and Tony convince them that there is time and they can’t leave without their targets. They say they can chase them out with some homemade gas, which is sent into the room through the ventilation system (great security, by the way…) It almost doesn’t work, but the PM’s wife panics and opens the door. They get led out and into a truck.

Renee, meanwhile, has arrived and is watching the group climb into the truck. She had gone ahead to the house despite Moss’ order to come back to the office. It seems that Tanner’s lawyers moved fast and got a complaint filed against her with the Attorney General. She calls Moss back to fill him in on what she’s seeing, but is captured before she can give him a plate number or any other information. She’s led into the truck along with everyone else.

Back at the FBI office, the people from the Attorney General’s office wanna speak with Janis, too. They were told about her stalling the lawyers. Janis tries to act like she was not involved, of course. Before they can take her away to interview her, Moss comes along and insists they need her to handle communications right now. He gives her an assignment and tells the guy to wait his turn. Elsewhere in the office, Sean is apparently messing around with another agent named Erica. When she mentions his wife’s plane getting grounded he gets a kinda smug look and talks about being lucky. He doesn’t seem to be trying too hard to hide what he did, does he? He and Janis later intercept a phone call between Emerson and the others in which he is ordered to get rid of Renee since they know she doesn’t have any other information that can be used against them. Moss makes Sean and Janis work on tracing the call again and continues to blow off the guy with the Attorney General.

There’s not too much to say about the White House. It’s pretty much the same story- President’s being advised to call off the invasion, but she refuses. Not even the information that the PM has been abducted changes her mind. I, meanwhile, continue to be suspicious of the Chief of Staff and Secretary of State. Mr. Taylor is, yet again, getting Brian to help him with the investigation into his son’s death since there is new evidence. Brian agrees and they leave. Henry is surprised when they end up at Samantha’s apartment. Even more surprised when Brian puts on some gloves and reveals he’s a bad guy. Henry’s been poisoned and Samantha is being led there by another corrupt agent. They plan to kill her and make it look like Henry did it before killing himself as well.

Finally, what is one of the creepiest segments, in my opinion. Emerson has directed them all to a construction site and ordered Jack to kill Renee now that they know she hasn’t learned anything dangerous to them. He leads her several feet away and they argue a bit, Renee telling him if he’s going to shoot her he’s going to have to look her in the eyes, because she won’t turn around. He forces her to and mutters something to her about getting her out of this before just barely grazing her with a bullet. She falls over and plays dead while Jack dumps her into a hole. He’s taken by surprise, though, when Emerson orders him and Tony to bury her. The last shot we see is from Renee’s perspective as the dirt covers her eyes and the silent clock ticks. Well, that’s it for this episode. Take care and I’ll see you next time. I leave you with the preview for next week. As usual, it’s thanks to Jonas Hodges Enjoy it!

Mole Hunt

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Good morning, everyone!! Are you all ready for the new episode tonight? I know I am. In the meantime, I thought I’d bring back another old feature… The Mole Hunt. I’m gonna name a few picks for who the corrupt guys are and reasons why. Each week, if there’s anything new revealed, I’ll add it and keep track of how well I do as the bad guys are revealed. Feel free to add your picks, too! Right now, I’ve got a couple of people.

First- Madam President’s Chief of Staff. He seems awfully anxious to stop her planned invasion of Sangala, doesn’t he? He even holds back information in the last episode that, when she finds out about it, says might lead her to go through with it. Could it be that he’s turned to the dark side?

Sean- Janis already has uncovered information that made her think he was a mole. Sure, it’s been explained away as him just trying to check up on his wife, but come on- this is 24. It seems like they fingered him and then cleared him just a little too quickly…

And now- my crazy, totally out there pick: Renee Walker. Yes, that’s right. I’m calling her out! Why, you ask? Well, it just seems a bit strange to me that she goes from being little miss ‘by-the-book’ agent to casually torturing a guy in only a few hours. And she makes sure to do that when there’s no one around to see. Makes you wonder what other secret activities she’s involved in… Speaking of Renee, here’s a little interview with the lady that plays her, courtesy of youtube’s JonasHodges. Enjoy!

So, what do you all think? I’m waiting to read your responses. Until then, take care!!

Weekly Awards:

The Martha Logan Consipracy Theorist Award: Given to Henry Taylor for sounding almost as crazy as she did. Let’s see if he ends up getting committed for awhile, too…

The Jack Bauer Award: Presented to Renee Walker for going from a by-the-book agent to a Bauer wannabe in about 5 seconds flat.

The Computer Geek of the Week: This is a tie between Janis and Chloe, since they both got one up on eachother.

Best Line of the Week: “Why Aren’t You Dead?” Jack to Tony.

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see you next time with more. By the way… I think a new logo for the countdown would be appropriate. If anyone would like to help with this, let me know.

Movie Talk

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Happy Friday, everyone!! Are you all ready for the weekend? I know I am! Before it comes, though, I have something to share with you guys that I found on yahoo!news. If you’re a big fan of the show, I’m sure you’ve all heard the talk about a big-screen version of 24. It’s actually been floating around for years now. The only thing standing in the way is the fact Executive Producer Howard Gordon doesn’t want to make it until after the show is over. He thinks they can’t really exist side-by-side and I tend to agree.

Well, he and Kiefer recently spoke to the press about the movie and have said it’s still going to happen. They just don’t know exactly when because they’re taking the show day-by-day. Gordon did mention, though, that he and Kiefer have been playing with the idea of ending the series at the end of the eighth season. Which means that the show could potentially have only one more year left in it. Whenever the show does eventually end, as all do, Gordon says there’s a real possibility that the movie could send the show off with a bang- literally. If you wanna read more and see what he means, head on over here. There’s also a very cool quote about Jack and being a human being from Kiefer in the article.

Well, I guess that’s about it for today. Since the new episode is only a few days away, I wanna leave you with two promos for the new episode, courtesy of Jonas Hodges on youtube. Enjoy and don’t forget to check back on Sunday for the Character Countdown!

Premiere, Part 4

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Good evening, everyone!! As promised, I’m here to give you the last part of the premiere recap. The FBI is trying to find Jack and Tony, following their escape last episode. Renee is especially determined to find them. When the President and Ethan discover this, they let the FBI have it for letting the men get away. They jump right into trying to get themselves off the hook by identifying the sniper from earlier, a man named Alan Tanner. He used to be in special forces and was in a dispute with the government over Gulf War Syndrome. He’s out cold in the hospital, but Renee makes plans to interview him when he wakes up. The president, meanwhile, switches to arguing with Ethan (I sense a trend starting…) over whether or not to call off the troops. She says she can’t just give in to terrorists the first time one asks after running on promises of doing the exact opposite. Ethan disagrees.

Jack and Tony meet with Bill and Chloe, Jack wanting to know how on earth Tony is still alive. Tony says he was given a shot that revived him and spent some time working with this group for real, because he was so angry about what happened to Michelle. Finally, they came up with a plan he knew was going too far and went to Bill for help. That’s when he started working for the good guys again. Later on, he calls David Emerson (the leader of the group) and tells him about Jack and how he helped him escape from the FBI. He says Jack is willing to help in exchange for help in getting out of the country.

Henry, meanwhile, is still reeling from Sarah confessing that his son was, in fact, killed and asks Agent Gesh to take him to meet Sarah in person. Gesh isn’t happy about it, but he relents after Henry promises this will be the last time he asks for something involving this from him. Right after, The President comes in and tells Henry what’s been going on and asks for some advice. He tells her he trusts her to make the right call, no matter what he decision is. Awww…. later on, Sarah provides him with proof of his son’s murder and begs him to leave her out of it from now on since her own life was threatened if she told anyone anything about this.

Renee and Sean are discussing the search for Jack and Tony when Janis comes along and tells Renee that Alan has woken up. Rene wants to go talk to him and wants Janis with her. Especially once she finds out lawyers are on the way. As they leave, Sean’s wife calls, anxious because her plane’s just circling with several others. He lies to her about everything being cool and then snaps at a co-worker in frustration. Later, he impersonates Larry to get his wife’s plane grounded sooner. Yeah, he’s not gonna pay for that one later…

On the way to the terror hide out, Tony fills Jack in on David and the group. Jack isn’t happy to notice that Tony seems to still admire the guy. Tony assures him that he can do what has to be done to stop the group from succeeding. When they arrive at the house, Tony tries to convince David that they need Jack around to help, but David isn’t so sure. He doesn’t really trust him. Jack finally takes a guy hostage and argues that he can get the job done and he’s here because he has nowhere else to go.

The President meets with the Prime Minister and tells him about the threat and how they’re considering backing down for now. He isn’t happy and begs the President to reconsider this, especially since so many people were counting on the support of the US. She promises to do what they can and yells at Ethan for not filling her in on all the details on the Sangala situation.

Bill and Chloe overhear a plot to kidnap the Prime Minister and she gets a little uncomfortable with this all. She thinks they should report what’s going on, but Bill reminds her they have to keep Tony and Jack’s cover and get to Dubaku if they’re ever going to get to the bottom of his full plans.

Meanwhile, Renee and Janis are arriving at the hospital to interview Tanner. Renee asks Janis to stall the lawyers while she talks with Tanner on her own. When he refuses to talk, she resorts to some of Jack’s old methods and Tanner spills everything he knows. She calls Moss to let him know that the terrorists are planning to kidnap the Prime Minister and they plan to try and capture Tony then. Word is passed along to the Prime Minister’s people, who lead him and his wife to safety. The episode ends with a big fight and the Prime Minister and his wife hiding in the building. I leave you with a clip from the premiere event, thanks to upalisevise on youtube. Take care and see you on Sunday!!

Announcements and News

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Good morning, again!! I’m back on track and wanted to share a plan for the blog as well as get some feedback from you guys. Just the other day, I received two e-mails very close to together asking me if I was planning to do the 24 character countdown for season seven. Since it looks like people really enjoyed it, I am definitely bringing it back. You can find the countdown for all four episodes of the premiere on Sunday. I’ll also have the last part of the recap up for you guys tonight. Now that the big 2-night premiere is done, expect a recap up every Monday night. These e-mails got me thinking- I’m sure there are other old features people would like to be able to see again. If there are, please feel free to e-mail or comment below to let me know and I’ll start adding them.

Now, I wanted to share something kinda cool with you guys. Not long ago, I was browsing some fan forums when I came across a link to this website. It’s a phoney news page devoted to the 24 universe. It’s hilarious. My personal favorites among the headlines are ‘Whiny blond girl kidnapped for third time today’, ‘CTU now composed of nothing but moles’ and ‘25th amendment invoked for the 25th time today’. Do you agree? Disagree? Let me know!

Finally, the ratings are in and while not the greatest, they are definitely steady. If you remember the ‘Redemption’ movie got around 12 million viewers when it aired back in November. Well, the first two premiere nights averaged about the same amount with very slight deviations. If the trend keeps up, FOX should be pretty happy. Don’t forget… next week, 24 goes back to airing one episode per week in it’s regular Monday at 9 PM timeslot.
