Special Awards:
Scariest Vice President Award: Goes to Powers Boothe as this season’s Vice President. That man frightens me. I am afraid to put him on the Countdown, for fear of my life if I give him negative points.
World’s Worst Father Award: Goes to Phillip Bauer. Graem was a little twit, we all know that, but what kind of guy could sit there and do that to his own son?
Best Quote Award: Goes to Powers Boothe for saying “I didn’t think this President had the stomach for the cure.” In his scary, Sin City-esque voice.

You forgot one for Sandra Palmer:
Refusing to accept that her sub-plot is painfully slow and keep calling the President, -17
This is definitely the best episode so far this season. Very Sweet.

Final summation of the ranks is off. Bauer has a 349, not a 339. Good stuff otherwise.

Only 9 points for “Performed the tricky shoot a man with another man’s gun while handcuffed”?? I think that should be at LEAST 20! It’s like you’re developing an immunity to the awesome stuff Jack can do.

How about -20 to Karen Hayes for thinking she’s going to get from her office in DC to CTU headquarters in LA, just after a nuclear bomb has been detonated there, in “a few hours”.
Yes, the VP is very, very scary - somehow I find that one of the easiest character profiles to believe - can’t think why ….

OH. MY. GOSH.
You see, I haven’t watched any of this season because I’m waiting on the DVDs to come out at once (I’m totally into watching them back-to-back), and so I got very little of what you posted in this message, except:
TONY AND MICHELLE WERE KILLED OFF? WHAT?
And now I’m a bit sad.
February 7th, 2007 at 8:21 am
Just for clarification, Tony and Michelle died in Season 5.

Sandra Palmer should get negative points for saying Walid was the strongest, most principled man she’s ever known. That’s a lie. We all know she grew up with David Palmer.

the chances that this is the last of sandra palmer (-15)

Yeah, @Jes, you might want to catch up on season 5 first!

i think you’re being a little hard on tom lennox. the president needs a hawk on his side to toughen him up a little. plus you have to like his quote about shippin’karen hayes out on the first bus to ‘justice’ (as in the department of). he’s kind of entertaining, don’t you think?
February 8th, 2007 at 8:43 am
What? I haven’t seen Season 5? Gawd. I’m so behind.
February 8th, 2007 at 10:40 am
You’re in luck! You can buy or rent the season 5 DVDs to tide you over until the Season 6 DVDs come out.

Has anyone noticed that Tom Lennox really looks and talks like Congressman Sherrod Brown (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherrod_Brown). Although Brown isn’t quite as conservative as Lennox, its still a funny paradox.

Aaron, something bothered me about Episode 7 that you haven’t mentioned in either the Episode Review or the Countdown. At the meeting with the Joint Chiefs and the Cabinet, once again, Wayne, in what should have been a moment to display strength, whispers all his lines, and comes off like he’s about to cry. I’ve liked DB Woodside’s acting in previous seasons, but this season, I’m really underwhelmed. Wayne Palmer is coming off somewhat 1-dimensional.
February 9th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
Willy,
You’re right about Wayne. And I just plain forgot to mention it.
The reason why I think you liked DB’s acting in other seasons was because he was supposed to be kind of a shady person that did shady things. He was also contrasted very well with the real President Palmer.
Who knows though, maybe somewhere down the road DB will surprise us…

Like, maybe in Episode 21, in the dramatic showdown with Powers Boothe (shot in grainy B&W on Air Force 1 where, inexplicably, it’s raining), he’s going to amazing us all by vampire-biting the Veep’s jugular vein out?

@willy
Best. 24. Side-Ending. Ever.
Unless the President is bad guy (again….uggh), then you would see Jack yelling “PALMER! DROP YOUR WEAPON!” That would rule just as much
