24 Episode 13–6:00p.m.-7:00p.m.
Tonight’s episode was another one of those Jack-less ones that we’ve come to know. Jack was in the beginning and the end, but no where really in the middle. The biggest story of tonight’s episode was Charles going to visit his ex-wife Martha, to see if Martha would be able to talk to the Russian President’s wife who in turn would talk to her husband who would make Markov surrender.
At first I thought the whole plotline was a ploy just to bring Martha into the picture. I was surprised by the twist they added on to the end which had the Russian President sanctioning the attack on his Consulate. That part caught me off guard, and I really liked how that turned out.
Now for Martha stabbing Charles…When they showed her chopping up the kiwi I was sitting there saying in my head, “Oh man she looks pissed, I bet she stabs him, and she did. It still took me by surprise though. Oh, and I was extremely glad to see Aaron Pierce again. One of the few people that have lived and been in every season, he’s a great character and probably one of the most stand up men on 24, besides Jack of course.
We also were treated to our first glimpse of Ricky Schroder’s character, and surprise he’s a real punk. What would CTU be without a mouthy, power hungry character coming in during the middle of the season? That’s always been one of the mainstays of 24. There’s always someone who just has to act like a jerk because he can. I can tell you Ricky’s going to be losing a lot of points on the Character Countdown.
I know I say this over and over, but Powers Boothe sure is frightening isn’t he? When he was threatening the Ambassador, I mean wow, that guy really knows how to get his point across. I’m not sure that I believe just yet that he didn’t have something to do with the assassination. He sure is playing along with it to his own benefit, but I think that there may be something that he isn’t letting on. He must have had a hand in it somewhere.
Oh and before I finish this review, it sure has been a long time since we’ve seen old Fayed. Am I the only one or did it seem like it took Fayed the same amount of time to reach the “Shadowlands as it took for Assad to fly to D.C.? Seems like Fayed has been driving for the past three episodes I’d almost forgotten about him. I think Fayed’s hours are numbered, and then the rest of the season will focus mainly on Gredenko, unless we haven’t even seen the real bad guy yet.
I liked tonight’s episode, but it wasn’t as good as last week’s. I hope from here on out we get a lot of Jack Time, because it’s surely lacking right now. Let’s not forget that 24 is Jack Bauer and Jack Bauer is 24, so hopefully the rest of the season realizes that.
(Sorry if this review was a little incoherent. I’ve had the flu or something all day and I’ve barely been able to move. But, I gotta watch 24 right? Anyway, the Character Countdown should be up tomorrow, plan on it, unless I get sicker then it’ll be a couple days. Thanks everyone!)

Wow. I loved tonight’s episode. I actually found it a lot better than last week’s episode. I was kinda surprised that Logan had no idea who Chloe was, since he was behind the assasination of Palmer & the framing of Jack, and therefore had to know about the four people (Chloe included) who knew Jack was alive. Maybe I missed something.
On the same point, I don’t get why Chloe isn’t more important at CTU. Even Morris seems to be more involved in decisions than she is. Wasn’t she head of the analysis team or something? She now acts as if she’s the most random analyst to work at CTU.

Tonight’s episode was good, but we’ve seen better at the beginning of the season.
We’re midway now and it’s slowing down a little bit. The previews for next week look like we’re going to be upping the kill count though, so I’m looking forward to it.
BTW, I really wish Morris would have decked the new punk agent they have at CTU… That guy really bugs the crap out of me!

Oh, and a few awards I thought of before the countdown is done:
Best Ex-Wife Vengeance Award: Martha for trying to kill Charles Logan with the smallest kitchen knife and actually hitting a main artery (the award stands whether Charles dies or not).
Worst Planned Consulate Sex Marathon Award: to the random russian couple who attempted a small sexy reunion in the basement of a consulate who had just been locked down, with the Consulate mutilated and a major power outage to deal with. Isn’t it just the most romantic set-up we are all waiting for? I say great timing

I was happy to see a lot less holes in this week’s plot (although The Bird pointed out something I was also wondering about with Logan and Chloe). But like you, Aaron, I believe we need to see a lot more of Jack Bauer. He’s the bread and butter of the show, and we’re hungry.
Preview for next week:
Mole inside CTU! Place your bets now. I’ve got 50 bucks on Milo (I think it would be pretty cliched if it was Nadia, and Morris could still be drunk)

BIRDMAN — Chloe’s sole job on ‘24′ is to save Jack while he is saving the country from destruction. She’ll kick in later i’m sure. Right now, she’s feeling a bit ‘ambivilant’.

The mole in CTU is probably Nadia. The VP is no doubt the big bad guy, I think. Well, at least he is behind the attacks on the President to further his own warmongering agenda.

CTU Mole can’t be Ricky S, he is too obvious. It also can’t be Chloe, because, well, it can’t. My money is on Nadya.
Did anyone else think that Ricky S looks alarmingly like JB’s “nephew?” When Jack gets back to CTU, there is going to be a clash.
This ep was a bit too boring for my tastes, even with Aaron Pierce. The last 5 minutes were amazing, though. WHAT did Marty say to Anya that made her convince her husband to call the consulate - all within like 3 minutes?

I’m surprised nobody’s said anything yet about Jack getting 3 more kills…
As for who the mole is…I’m clueless. I don’t want to say Nadia, but that’s just ’cause I like her so much…on a side note, I just learned that the actress who plays her is from my hometown, how cool is that…I wanna say Ricky is the mole, but like Edmundo said, it seems a bit too obvious.
Good to see Aaron back…and something told me Martha had gone crazy between day 5 and day 6, but she’s even crazier than I expected…not that I wouldn’t have loved to deal some emotional and physical abuse on Charles. Looks like all my crazy bible analysis was for nothing…heh

ok… I got a few small issues with last night’s ep.
1. What the hell are people doing buying fruit and playing tennis on a day like this? I remember a little day called 9/11 that had everyone huddled in front of the TV afraid of what was going to happen next. Instead we got Aaron out there buying raspberries.
2. Martha calling Enya Suvarov. Isn’t russia like, 10 hours ahead? It should’ve been like 4am there, instead Enya picks up the phone and THE SUN IS OUT. Yet she was “giving a speech”. umm… huh?
Hey charlie, what’s that on your suit? STAB! bwahahaa.

James, I read somewhere that the time difference wasn’t a problem. Omsk, Russia, is 13 hours ahead of us here on the West Coast, so that speech was being given at about 7:30 AM, which is a more reasonable time to be giving a speech.

The writers are smarter than thowing another mole after fans have complained about it for years. We’ll most likely have a new twist on the mole idea, like in season 5 where spencer was working for the white house and was caught in one episode. Maybe Nadia forgets to reset the firewall again (see episode 1) or CTU gets hacked like in season 3. Same result with no fan bitching!

I’d like to see Martha Logan as the main character next season. “Tell me where the bomb is, you lying snake. I’m not crazy, DON’T CALL ME CRAZY!” Then she growls and stabs the guy in the neck with a letter-opener. Buchanan’s like, “Did he tell you where the bomb is?” Seriously. Jack vampire-bites a guy to death and he’s a hero, but Martha stabs her husband (the stone-cold traitor) with a pen, and she’s a loony? Seems like a gender role issue to me.

Welcome Lazlo! Whenever I need to see an episode, I either torrent it from torrentspy.com, or watch it on dailymotion.com
