24 Episode 14–7:00p.m.-8:00p.m.
By far the best episode since the 4th hour of this season.
As you can tell I really, really liked this episode. I was utterly shocked when we were told that Audrey had been killed in China while she was looking for Jack. That adds a great twist to the overall aspect of 24, and I couldn’t help but think that that would be a fantastic plot for next season’s 24. Could you imagine, Jack travels to China to take out everyone that wronged him and those that killed Audrey? Oh, man that would be a great twist. 24 solid hours of Jack at his vigilante best.
Sorry, I’m getting off track, okay back to the episode at hand. So we’re being led to believe that Nadia is the one responsible for leaking the terrorists the information. Personally, I don’t think she’s the one responsible and this storyline will serve as a sort of moral telling us all that we shouldn’t judge people because of their nationality. But, what I am clueless about is the person that is actually feeding the information to the terrorists. Is it Milo? He’s the one that let Nadia log in under his password. I’m really just not sure, and don’t have any really good guesses to who it could actually be.
In D.C. things are getting crazy, and for some reason that Presidential bunker is like a cave. I mean, seriously, can’t someone put in a few more light bulbs in that place? When those people walk outside when this day is through they’re going to burn out their retinas, there is no light in that place at all. Maybe all that darkness is fumbling around with VP Powers Boothe’s head because he’s not budging with his nuclear response against the unnamed Middle Eastern country. Even when the drone was found and lives were saved except for those poor, poor people that arrived at the bomb site before HazMat crews came and were exposed to the radiation.
Speaking of drones, not only can Jack fly helicopters (which we’ve learned in past seasons) but, even after spending two years in a Chinese prison camp Jack is still up to date on his drone piloting abilities. He successfully navigated the drone and landed it with out it blowing up. When Jack retires (which will NEVER happen) he always has a future as a video gamer, did you see how he controlled that joystick? WOW!
This was a great episode. The only down side was we found out that Sandra Palmer will be reappearing. She actually showed her face in this episode (which will get her some negative points in the Character Countdown) but no doubt she’ll be whining all the way through next week’s episode.
On the bright side though, Jack killed two more people (he’s up to twelve now), Chloe kissing Morris was hilarious especially when she told him point blank that it was to “check his breath,” and Rick “Mikey Doyle” Schroder is a punk, a real big punk and I’m half tempted to call him “Scrotum Face” from here on out…he really hasn’t aged well at all.
Oh and stay tuned for a contest that will be announced tomorrow…

Great episode and great review by the way!
Personally I somehow don’t think Audrey is dead. Maybe the Chinese government imprisoned her or something (as a bargaining chip maybe?!) Even though I honestly don’t see what more the Chinese would want out of Jack.
Anyways, how can you do this to Jack again 24 writers?!?! And how ironic is it that Marylin is the one that delivered this saddening news to Jack?

I agree that Audry is still alive. The last character to go out like that was Tony’s “disapointing” death, and the writer’s aren’t likely to repeat that mistake again. Unless the writer’s make her death truly meaningful to the plot and Jack’s motivation, of course. But I can’t help recalling Cheng’s words from season 4 that no one would ever know he (whatever his name was) was still alive.
And what about Logan?! Did he really die from a paring knife to the shoulder? Gah!

i dont buy the whole vice president thing. its just too ridiculous that this guy is so hardcore that he’d nuke someone for basically no reason and got that high up the government without someone noticing.
also, i love how jack just kind of shot that guy coming out of the building without even verifying if he was a badguy or not.
March 19th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
Igor,
I thought the same thing about Jack just killing that guy without knowing anything. He could’ve been an innocent person that was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But, at least all the Russian guys were wearing the same jackets so we knew they were bad

Jack just knew his kill count was too low for episode 14.

Yeah, last week’s episode ends with Logan flatlining, and there’s NO mention of it this week?! What does that mean??

I actually didn’t like this episode as much as you did, Aaron [any chance your last name is Pierce?]. Hi, I’m Alessandro, I’m Italian. I’ve been reading your blog since the beginning of the season and I like it very much.
But this time I do have to disgree with you in the fact that this was the best episodi since ep. 4, maybe because the promo deparmente at Fox has spoilered us all with this week second trailer, showing us Audrey’s file with a big fat bold red “DECEASED” written on it. So, to me, it wasn’t so shocking. I thought the episode was slow, full of political talk and CTu talk[which I both like, but too much is too much]. And I didn’t like the “Nadia-is-a-mole” thing. It would be such a cliche if she was, it would be so obvious if she wasn’t. I think she’s not. I think the Russians are using the security breach that was created when Nadia started using Milo account. Even when you sign up for a free e-mail they tell you not to give your password to anyone, but you know CTU, the least secure agency in the world. Eheh. And Milo IS itchin to go to bed with her. Who wouldn’t? Man I love Ricky character. I loved when he reached for Nadia’s neck Jack Bauer style. I think they’ll make a great team out on the field, much better than Jack-Curtis, non even comparable with Jack-Tony though. I miss him every week.

The two man rule applies to releasing nuclear warheads. It has to be approved by a second elected official that is on the list. This is to prevent a psychotic President from bombing someone. There was no mention of that in the show.
The nuclear device shouldn’t go off from the fire because most explosives are designed not to go off if they are lit. Nuclear weapons operate on highly shaped charges so the crash probably would have rendered it inoperable.
I don’t believe Nadia to be the mole. It’s most likely to be the new head of Field Ops Ricky.

Another great episode - great review, Aaron.
My guesses on the CTU mole are either Milo or Ricky “Scrotum Face” Schroder. Wouldn’t it be a great plot twist though if it DID turn out to be Nina???
Also, I want to throw this out there… am I the only one that senses the possibility of another “Nina Meyers” type of character in one Marilyn Bauer??? Relating to Audrey’s death and all, I mean. How the hell did she know who Audrey was anyway??? I know it’s a long shot, but it’s just a hunch.

No way is Audrey dead. My prediction: Jack spends the next 8 hours on a sonic jet to China, and the last episode is him finding Audrey.
ScrotumFace is the mole, no doubt about it. His “moooslim” line was too ridiculous.
Although Sandra should lose points for showing her face, she should gain like 100 for not speaking at all. That really saved the episode for me.

Mole is definately “scrotum face”. He was looking all sketchy like when they were talking about a mole. And Audrey dead may have been the blessing we were waiting for. Jack got so pissed and back to bad ass when he found out. I dont think she is dead, but then again, I dont want Jack to find out that she isnt.

Ok, pardon the language, but the Vice President is a fucking psycho. Did you see the utter dissapointment on his face when they said the stopped the nuke from going off?? I rewound that part 3 times and every time-you could see the complete disgust that they pulled that off and the wheels turning in his head “How can I justify this attack now?”
As for the mole. . .I am betting on Milo. At the same time, the Vp’s little assistant-there is something going on with her. She constantly has a small little smirk on her face.

consider kim raver is casted this season to appear in april 9ths episode, i find it hard to believe she’s dead. she’s said it herself.
March 20th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
By far the best episode since the 4th hour of this season.
Wholehearted agreement. This picked up a few story lines that the show had dropped. The next episode promises to be good. However, I thought it was a little strange that we didn’t hear any mention of Logan’s (death?).
March 20th, 2007 at 4:37 pm
Regarding the the believability of the veep seeming so gung-ho on nuking someone, I think it’s totally believable if you remember that the whole story was setup with the country being under seige for weeks. He’s probably had a lot of misplaced anger building up inside of him.
As for Audrey, anyone else think that it could make for a good plot device for a future 24 movie (whenever they get around to doing it)? Travelling to China, then back the States, or whatever wouldn’t work in the show. But for a movie? 2 hours of Jack Bauer-style revenge? That could work. Though if John is right about Kim Raver being in a future ep, then it’s all a moot point…

Audrey is NOT dead. period. otherwise there would be no reason for Chloe to point out that a DNA test was made and Audrey’s ID was confirmed. After reading the other comments, Marylin probably is a rotten apple, and remember, the VP has his own agenda. The “lets go nuke someone” has a point that we don’t know yet. Marylin and Audrey could be involved on this, although their roles are yet to be defined. The leak is not important anymore.. if it’s Nadia, boo.. if it’s Milo, boo.. if it’s Doyle, boo.. if it’s any other low level CTU personnel, boo.. if it’s an exploit on the Nadia/Milo password exchange, boo.. so lets leave at that.. now, did you guys see how docile and humble Doyle was with Jack ? I think at least he knows not to mess with Jack…

Audrey is totally not dead, her death was faked, I’m just not sure if she faked it or the chinese did and are holding her hostage. Also, Milo is totally the mole.
March 21st, 2007 at 7:25 am
How can you guys pin the mole on Milo?!? He would have totally tossed out Morris when he had any chance if he was a mole. Also, what benefit would he have to give Nadia his access info to the system if he were a mole. I think that Milo != Mole. Now “scrotum face” has a lot going against him. He was way to cool with Jack to be not hiding something. Gave him point that easily?!? That isnt in his character. Doyle is the mole, hands down. He also hasnt exercised much of his force on terrorists. He has hurt, or tried to hurt, more CTU personell then potential terrorists.

If you smelt it you delt it. Milo has the essence of a mole. I profess it’s time for a murder-suicide from the Palmer siblings. Neither will have the strong hand that David could wave. I’m excited that Curly Bill got to take the reighns. Break out the peyote!
March 21st, 2007 at 9:11 am
You’re all wrong. The mole is obviously the zombie corpses of Tony and Edgar. (Thus making them co-moles).
March 21st, 2007 at 2:11 pm
Milo wants Morris on staff still because all the personal drama going on was distracting everyone from doing their job. Also, he could have given Nadia his password so that if any moley activity gets traced back to his account he could just pin it on her. Finally, Jack is not going to find out Audrey is alive until he finds out his nephew is his son, and he’s about to move on and give it a go with his sister in law, and then Audrey walks through the door. Because nothing goes easy for Jack, ever.

Changing tack a little, I think it’s curtains for President Wayne Palmer now. Karen will talk Sandra into allowing the doctors to bring him back to consciousness just long enough for him to veto the nuclear strike, but it’ll be too much for him and that damn swelling will finish him off.
You just watch.
