24 Episode 19–12:00a.m.-1:00a.m.

by

Sorry I didn’t have this post up right after the episode aired. I was too busy watching my Utah Jazz lose game 2.

Okay, let’s get down to business…

Overall this was a strange episode, but I did like it.

But what in the world is up with Audrey? She’s been all sorts of brainwashed. But, I’m getting ahead of myself.

It looks like Tom is aligning himself with the VP for the time being, but that tape recording isn’t in the closet just yet that’s for sure. Especially with the VP’s aide, Lisa, playing him like a fiddle, there’s going to be some point where something’s going to have to happen to get the VP out of office.

Karen is deciding to not stand side by side with her husband Bill. That’s just a shame. Bill has now stepped down and Nadia is in charge…let me repeat Nadia is IN CHARGE. Who in the world knew she actually knew enough to take control of CTU. And once she stepped into the head of CTU role it seemed like she is going to turn into one of those annoying female CTU supervisors that drives me up the wall like Alberta Green and Erin Driscoll. I sure hope she doesn’t go the way of those two ladies or we’re all in for a very long last few episodes.

Well, Doyle managed to screw things up royally didn’t he? Jack had that whole place wired to blow and Doyle messed up the entire thing.

Here’s one thing I didn’t understand at all. Cheng came with his buddies in one limo right? (Sorry I was watching this on my computer and the screen was pretty dark) But, then they are able to get away in 3 black hummers? Where did those things come from? If anyone has an answer to that I’d love to know. I’ll re-watch the episode tomorrow to find out.

Now we can talk about Audrey. What the heck did those crazy Chinese do to her? She’s completely insane. Maybe it’s not actually Audrey, but just a very life-like Audrey-bot. But, in all seriousness that was pretty freaky seeing her like that. How come she wasn’t like that when Jack talked to her on the phone? She seemed fine on the phone.

There’s a lot of questions that need answering, and mark my words Jack’s Dad is the one with all the answers!

I still don’t know my feelings on Doyle’s grand scheme ruining. Usually this is the ebb and flow of 24. Jack knows what to do and how to do it to make everything go right, and then someone else steps on a twig and messes everything up. And usually, it just goes to hell royally. Doyle did this, and my greatest dissapointment was that Jack didn’t just clock him for it (and sweet revenge for last time), but in a round-about way, Doyle may have saved Jack’s life. I’d assume Jack could have pulled off some magical window dive from halfway across the room while Cheng was blown away, but I guess only getting pushed down by bullets was an easier ordeal. Plus, the last four episodes would have to be filled with only White House and couples drama.

  2. Jay Says:

The only reason that Audrey seemed fine on the phone was….
well, she kept repeating the same sentence. From the looks of it, those are the only words that she can mutter out anyways. (Cheng took the phone away from her before Jack can converse with her) Could it just be a simple mental shock?

BTW, I’ve lost all the respect for Tom after seeing yet again his manipulative nature.

  3. Ken Says:

I thought it was a nice tuch that the only thing that brain-damaged(!) Audrey could say was what she said over the phone to Jack. It added a slight touch of plausibility to a ludicrous plot twist. But I confess I was touched by Jack’s pained concern.

  4. Matt Says:

I’m just depressed that Jack still loves Audrey. Doesn’t he realize by now that anyone he loves dies?

  5. Carlos Says:

What’s odd is that Audrey was able to take directions from Jack to walk down to the bridge. Maybe she’s just a compliant unthinking machine now. Jack can take two years straight of torture and not even utter a word, but only a couple of months and Audrey’s brain is completed fried.

Will Jack foil his enemy Chang (and those affiliated with the Chang Gang)?

  6. Mike B. Says:

Yeah I didn’t like the whole “we have three black military hummers waiting behind the house” thing that chang pulled off.

Wouldn’t jack or doyle have seen/heard those things driving up before the exchange went down.

That whole episode felt like one big chain of failures, bill gone, jack/ctu screw up, vp back in power, tom a cronie again.

  7. Bailey Says:

Not to mention we had to suffer through watching Powers Boothe grope Lisa - I thought I was going to hurl. I surely hope in these next few episodes they have a good legitimate reason for that…like she stings him in some way or causes his downfall. That would be fine. Otherwise, spare me.

  8. Jack Says:

Audrey is a obedient woman who only says a few words now. What the hell is wrong with that. Bonus Bauer, Bonus.

  9. Niraj Says:

Since you mentioned the Hummers thing was unrealistic, how about the fact that Cheng let Jack do an exchange on his terms (he asked “how do you want to do this?”) and he walked right into a house that could very well have been (and was) booby trapped by Jack beforehand. Jack could just as easily have waited until Audrey came over to him and then blown out the floor beneath Cheng or something. To me that whole fact was distracting me from what was going on.

  10. Perry Says:

My question about the Hummers is, how come Doyle didn’t hear them? if he could see Jack’s truck in the dark in the middle of nowhere, how could he miss the sound of three hummers crunching over the brush (remember, they weren’t on the side of the house with pavement)? I mean, its not hard to hear three hummers driving over stuff that snaps and breaks, is it?

  11. Drew Says:

They brainwashed Audrey to constantly repeat “Help me, Jack, don’t let them do this to me.” When she talked on the phone that was all she said, so when she could say nothing else in this episode it would seem to confirm a brainwashing of some sort.

  12. S.a.m. Says:

Who were the 2 guys jack killed? It looked like the Chinese had all taken off already. Were they stragglers that didn’t get into the mystery hummers, or did Jack just cap 2 random CTU agents?

  13. Ched Says:

my Utah Jazz lose game 2

The Penny Drops: You’re a Utah Jazz fan. Hmmmm…I’m now currently contemplating whether or not to boycott “watching24.com” until the first round is finished :)
