24 Episode 22–2:00a.m.-3:00a.m.

by Aaron

Well, that show was just full of “Jack-tion” wasn’t it?

I lost count of how many people Jack killed in that episode, but it was quite a few. I did however find myself upset that Jack would underestimate himself so much.

“There’s a good chance this won’t work and we won’t get out of this alive.” BAH! Come on Jack, you’ve got a lot more confidence in yourself than that. You took out Cheng’s men with ease. Snapped that guy’s neck like a twig. Nadia and Morris weren’t too bad themselves. Nadia pulled the old James Bond chop in the back trick while Morris went for the Princess Bride move of jumping on the bigger man and strangling him until he finally passed out.

As I was watching tonight’s episode though, I came to realize that Cheng is Jack’s “White Whale.” He was so close this time to putting a bullet in the man that tortured him for two years, but did he? Nope, he had to save is fake nephew/most likely real son from falling to his death. But, I’m confident that Cheng will be going to the big Chinese Consulate in the sky before this day is through.

Man, Phillip Bauer really is a sociopath isn’t he? That guy just doesn’t give up. Now that Jack foiled the plot for Cheng to get Josh Phillip is now blackmailing Vice President Powers Boothe. There’s a lot of things that need to be answered regarding Phillip Bauer, first and foremost is why in the world does he have that disgusting old man mullet? Second, why is he hell-bent on destroying America? And third, what did Jack do in his childhood (maybe wrecked the family car or accidentally broke his Father’s favorite porcelain figurine of Kim Jong Il) that made his dad hate him so much?

So here we are staring down the mouth at a two hour season finale that is promising to shock and awe us up to the very last minute. Anything can happen, and us 24 fanatics know that anything most likely will.

I just have to say this, before I come back later to actually discuss the episode.
THE TRAILER FOR THE FINALE SHOWED BILL IN IT!
    :):):)

  2. Ken Says:

Now this one I really liked. Not just the action, but the seeds of the Jack’s family storyline are really paying off.

BTW, this episode was 3:00 to 4:00 AM.

  3. Rod Says:

I think they will keep Jack’s dad alive after of course Jack destroys the chip. That way he can be an antagonist in future seasons. They may also be setting up WWIII where Jack will be totally in the field on foreign soil next season to do his thing to try to end the war, which may explain why Jack’s dad wants Josh out of the country before the nukes are launched. We may also find out President Keeler is being held hostage by the Russians or Chinese. Then again I am usually wrong:)

  4. Matt Says:

I’m happy to finally see the season finale because a lot of loose ends will be put to rest, but at the same time I am sad because it will be about 7 months before season 7 :(

  5. Jose Alvear Says:

Yes, that will be the end of good TV until January or February 2008. Ouch! Even LOST won’t be back until that time.

Guess I’ll have to actually leave the house this summer.

  6. Kim Says:

Hah ha, President Keeler … I think he’s been in a coma since season 4…

  7. Jack Says:

    Two questions:
    1) How did Jack kill more of Chengs men with a handgun while the CTU task force had M-16’s?

    2) Where is Jack going to (get kidnapped to/have to disappear to/get suckered into doing) at the end of this season?

  8. Tom Says:

At the end of the season, mystery person (Tony? *crosses fingers*) is going to pick him up in a van and take him away…apparently they have a lot to talk to Jack about. I’m personally worried about Chloe, though…I wanna know what’s going to happen to her to make her collapse (I’m about 99% positive that was her that Morris was hunched over calling for help about during the preview). I also wanna know how Bill is going to be involved in these final 2 hours.

  9. Loren Says:

I am excited for the finale as well - by the end I hope to see Phillip Bauer at least get a haircut, that old man mullet is disgusting! It takes away from his intimidation factor.

By the way, what is Jack’s kill count up to now?

  10. Loren Says:

    P.S. Is ‘Jack-tion’ yours? I like it. :)

  11. Tom Says:

Without watching the episode a 2nd time, I’m guessing he killed 6 people, which would put his total up to 36 (heck, it’s 11 for the past 2 episodes alone) this season and a total of 150 through all 142 episodes. Something tells me that if my count for this episode is off, it’s because I guessed low…haha. Good to know that he’ll be above a 1 kill per hour average after this season…heh.

  12. Ken Says:

Bauercount has six kills also. 36 total so far, and an explosive comming up!

  13. nicole Says:

If Phillip Bauer hated Jack so much, he would have killed him when he had the chance. He is evil, there is no doubt, but I don’t think he hates Jack.

  14. Jack Says:

I may be wrong, but i think that we should see a shower scene with Kim Bauer in it. I think that would be the best way to go out for the season.

I dont know about the six kill count. I thought it was more than that. 2 on the way to the roof, 1 with the neck break inside CTU, 2 by the SUV, 2 from the hiding behind the SUV. I think its 7 for the episode. Ill watch the tivo again later.

  15. Ched Says:

I came to realize that Cheng is Jack’s “White Whale.”

This is a very apt metaphor for Jack and Cheng. I would daresay brilliant!

  16. Marc Says:

@Jack: You should be a writer for the show. :)

  17. Eyz Says:

The reason why Jack Bauer can CAP more guys with a pistol Than the whole CTU with M-16’s is the same reason Chuck Norris can kill guys with his Power round house kick “HEEE YA” snap!
I do think Jack Bauer either taught gun handling to Walker Texas Ranger or Walker taught the finer art of Kickin Butt to Jack Bauer, Or maybe just the same class in High School..

  18. Eyz Says:

    Oh Ya Aaron,
    Wasn’t Episode 22 from 3 - 4
21 was 2-3, don’t get off by one hour this late in the season it’ll screw us all up…..
