‘24′ on iTunes…Let the Rip-off Begin
Variety is reporting that a season pass for downloading episodes of 24, will be 45$.
45$ are you serious?
Every episode will be available the day after it airs.
So, would you like to know what you’re getting for your 45 bucks? Not one or two…but three, count them three remixes of the show’s theme.
45$ seems really steep, but leave it up to iTunes to charge something this outrageous. I mean when the DVD comes out brand new it’ll be around 45 bucks and you have them on DVD in a nice little box to add to your collection, not stored to your harddrive taking up space, until you finally delete them and buy the DVD when it comes out anyway, so now you’re in around 100 bucks.
Does this deal sound appealing to anyone?

Aaron’s iTunes hatred is shining through. There’s some weirdos out there that like to watch stuff on their 2” screen. It might appeal to them.

iTunes should not do TV shows.

It doesn’t sound appealing at all. I’ve never understood the desire to watch shows on your computer when they look so much better on tv/dvd. Sure, if it’s something obscure that can only be found on YouTube, or you missed the episode and HAVE to see it, but otherwise this sounds like quite the ripoff.

$45 bucks? We already saw episodes 1-4 leak to the internet 4 weeks early. Now they want to charge more in the face of their unprotected digital content?

Well, if you buy them one episode at a time, it’s a whopping$47.76! So, we’re saving tons by using the season pass! (sarc)
I’d almost consider it if they were DVD quality instead of iPod quality. But I’ll just wait for the DVDs.

This is quite a steep price. However, it is an invaluable asset the morning after a missed episode in the middle of a season!

I downloaded one of the first episodes and the quality is amazing….its worth it for someone who doesn’t have the time to watch the tv show and would rather do it on there own time.
Fox should do it like ABC does and offer it with limited commercial online

I’m a full time college student, full time software developer and full time parent of a toddler. I recently realized that my television habit was preventing my success in several of these spheres, so my little family and I made the painful decision to cut the cable. We now longer even get broadcast. Too much temptation. Also, I’m saving about $800 dollars a year. Now, as a music student, my iPod is a necessity (it’s like a math major’s calculator). So, I have the infrastructure in place, and I have the relative savings at hand from what had been my cable bill. I’m actually quite liking the ‘pod as a 24 delivery mechanism. I can watch my program when and where I like, it’s already time-shifted for me. The little screen is a bit sad, I’ll admit, but compared to the alternatives (There’s surely a .torrent for Monday’s episode by now, but make sure your virus definitions are current, and technically, it is illegal.) it’s great.
