Mole Hunt

Be very, very quiet…. I’m hunting moles!!

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Hey again!! I’m in a hunting mood today, so who wants to join me on a mole hunt? Be sure to share your own guesses. I can’t wait to read other people’s theories (and why mine are crazy :) )

bob-guntonI’m zeroing in on my first target. He’s not new, but he’s just looking shadier and shadier as time goes on. He’s Ethan. Exhibit A: Olivia has pointed out that all the White House corruption happened under his watch. Doesn’t seem very becoming to a White House Chief of Staff, does it? Unless, of course, he recruited the bad guys himself. Exhibit B: His convenient absence during the White House Siege. Exhibit C: He was one of the only people that knew about Jack heading to the hospital to question Burnett. Exhibit D: He’s way too gung-ho about discrediting Olivia, as we saw last episode.

sprague-graydenMy next target is relatively new to the show: Olivia Taylor. She’s definitely got motive after being kicked off the campaign and she seems childish enough to want to get back at them for it. Exhibit A: Her insistence on President Taylor declaring victory in her speech, which seemed a bit much to me, especially after she already gave a speech like that earlier in the day that was quickly followed by an attack. Can’t imagine she’s got much credibility right now with the American people. Exhibit B: The leak (I don’t believe for one second she wasn’t in some way behind that) designed to make her mom’s chief advisor look bad and the way she seems to be trying to finger him for everything. Exhibit C: She practically jumped at the chance to be in her mom’s administration and seems a bit power-hungry.

jeffrey-nordlingI think Larry is another one who needs to be watched more carefully after this episode. Why? Well, besides doing nothing last week when it looked like there was something up with the audio/video feed (which either makes him evil or totally incompetent), this week another mission he’s in charge of failed. Could it be because he’s sabotaging them? I guess we’ll see. Another strike against him is his treatment of Renee. She’s been one of his only agents to get any results and suddenly he’s ready to put her in holding. Seems off to me… how about you?

janeane-garofaloJanis is on my radar again this week as well. She can help out Sean and risk a lot by sneaking into those files for a lame excuse, but she fights Renee on giving her info because she’s suspended? Nice that you start playing by the rules now. Also? She’s a bit too eager and helpful and we all know how that worked out with Nina back in the day.

Finally, I have to say that I see one more hint that Tony is possibly bad. Not only has his info not really helped all that much, he disappears a lot. Finally? He was sitting in a café and seemed to be relaxing a bit. Who else has been able to actually relax a little during the day’s events? That’s right… Hodges and a few of his people! Plus, I don’t remember any good guys really getting to do that before on this show unless they’re in intensive care or, well, dead.

Change in Plans….

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

So, I was all ready to start writing a post about the kill count when I realized something: I think this is one of the few episodes where someone wasn’t killed (at least on screen). Sure, the first husband and his son’s ex have one foot in the death pool, but they’re not there yet and anything can happen on this show. The Mutobo’s guard seemed like he was about to hop in the pool as well until the FBI called and they moved one to more important matters.

So, why not go on a mole hunt instead? I never really bothered with Brian and any other agents in the SS on this show. I figure if the kid’s agent was dirty, there’s every chance other ones are too. (What’s up with all the moles in there and in the FBI/CTU anyway? Haven’t they heard of little things called background checks?) So, let’s look at people not in the SS….

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say someone in the AG’s office is dirty. Otherwise, it seems a bit odd for them to be so wrapped up in Renee’s breech of protocol at a time like this. Seems like that case would go on the backburner. Especially when the agent in question having been captured.

Sean is still not winning any points with me and seems to be kinda half-assing his job right now. Although, I will say I think his mistress may be involved in the conspiracy as well.

I still wonder about the President’s CoS and SoS. They seem to be looking for any excuse possible to stop the whole Sangala invasion.

Renee is either dirty or the most hard-core chick out there. She showed not one bit of fear and was practically daring Jack. If she’s not dirty, I kinda adore her.

cherry-jonesAnd now… my (other) totally out there, crazy pick:President Taylor. Yes, I’m calling her out too! Ms. President seems a bit too into her Sangala invasion. It wouldn’t kill em to postpone the mission for a bit, would it? At least until the CIP device is found and/or the thing is made useless in about 6 days. See, Taylor? It’s not that hard. Why all the whining and speechifying?

So, what do you all think? Am I off? Am I right? Post your own guesses below.

Mole Hunt

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Good morning, everyone!! Are you all ready for the new episode tonight? I know I am. In the meantime, I thought I’d bring back another old feature… The Mole Hunt. I’m gonna name a few picks for who the corrupt guys are and reasons why. Each week, if there’s anything new revealed, I’ll add it and keep track of how well I do as the bad guys are revealed. Feel free to add your picks, too! Right now, I’ve got a couple of people.

First- Madam President’s Chief of Staff. He seems awfully anxious to stop her planned invasion of Sangala, doesn’t he? He even holds back information in the last episode that, when she finds out about it, says might lead her to go through with it. Could it be that he’s turned to the dark side?

Sean- Janis already has uncovered information that made her think he was a mole. Sure, it’s been explained away as him just trying to check up on his wife, but come on- this is 24. It seems like they fingered him and then cleared him just a little too quickly…

And now- my crazy, totally out there pick: Renee Walker. Yes, that’s right. I’m calling her out! Why, you ask? Well, it just seems a bit strange to me that she goes from being little miss ‘by-the-book’ agent to casually torturing a guy in only a few hours. And she makes sure to do that when there’s no one around to see. Makes you wonder what other secret activities she’s involved in… Speaking of Renee, here’s a little interview with the lady that plays her, courtesy of youtube’s JonasHodges. Enjoy!

So, what do you all think? I’m waiting to read your responses. Until then, take care!!

Let’s Go on a Mole Hunt!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Well, I’m just ecstatic that 24 is back to its old self. There’s a mole inside CTU that’s “subverting the system.” So, I decided that now is as good as time as any to take everyone on a Mole Hunt with me.

I’m going to give you my top 5 guesses on who the mole is and why I think that. Feel free to add your own guesses in the comments, or tell me how wrong I really am.

Ok, lets stop wasting time and get the hunt underway!

1. Milo

My first guess is Milo. There was something about him during this episode that just didn’t seem right. And he’s clever. So, he got shot in the line of duty that would totally not make him a mole right? Wrong, remember Nina? Jack shot her, and she still ended up being the mole. Also, did you notice that Milo was not in the room when Morris just so happened to lose the drone on the satellite feed. Was that because Milo took that time to feed the terrorists the information, you bet it was!

2. Rick “Mikey Doyle” Schroder AKA “Scrotum Face”

This guy is up to no good I can feel it. Right when it’s announced there’s a mole in CTU he tries to divert everyone’s attention to Nadia? She’s the only “Mooooooslum” in the room right, it must be her. You know what, it’s always the new guy. Doyle has a shady past, a craggy face, and an attitude. If it’s not Milo it’s him.
