24 Episode 23 & 24 (Season Finale)

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I have to come right out and say it, I’m torn between whether I liked this finale and whether I thought it was very possibly a huge let down.

On the negative side we have really horrible acting by Ricky Schroder. I mean the parts he was in he was just terrible. We also had Jack storming an oil rig, which had a lot of promise to it, with very little pay off. I would’ve much rather seen Jack surgically take out Cheng’s teams of men rather than watch him blow up a few barrels of oil. If you think back to Jack taking out Fayed and his team, that oil rig rescue wasn’t even in the same league.

This episode also featured a lot more “fluff” at the end than we’re used to in 24. I remember the 1st season, and being gripped right up until the end minutes where Jack kills all the Drezens, captures Nadia and finds Teri dead. It was insane and something I wasn’t used to seeing in a show before. This time we had to go through all the stuff with Karen and the VP. I just thought it was something that could’ve been dealt with by just the VP saying, “Release Karen.” They didn’t need to waste time showing how she reacted.

Jack’s showdown with his Father wasn’t nearly satisfying enough for me. I was sitting there thinking after all that’s happened this day. After Jack’s Dad being the head of everything that happened in this season, and the last, he’s done in by a teenager with a wrench. It just didn’t seem fair to end it like that. Don’t even get me started on the Chloe pregnancy. That was a complete waste of our time I thought. How does something like that help a story move forward in 24? In Grey’s Anatomy, I can see how something like that would be a plot mover, but in 24…come on.

Ok, not everything was bad I thought. Bill being brought back into the mix was a nice touch. Although, did anyone notice that there was absolutely no mention, ever again, of the District Doo-Doo Head that came in to take control of CTU? I know I said to keep that out as much as possible, but to ignore it all together seemed kind of weird.

I thought seeing a whole 180 degree change in Tom’s attitudes was great character development. Tom went from one of the most annoying characters to one of the best at the end.

I thought delving into Jack’s character as a human being at the end was great. His speech to Heller was fantastic, and his choice to leave Audrey behind was heart-wrenching, but necessary.

But, taking this whole season in now it doesn’t compare to earlier seasons. The first 4 episodes of this season set such a high bar there was no way the writers could achieve driving that kind of story for another 20 episodes.

For me the season finale just didn’t really separate itself as a “season finale.” 24 finales in the past have really distinguished themselves as the best episodes of their given seasons. But, it wasn’t true tonight. The episode where the bomb went off and the episode where Jack killed Fayed were by far the best episodes of this season. The season finale was just average.

Now I’m kind of mad that we were fed that stuff about a character showing up at the end. I guess it was put out there to throw people off the “Jack staring out into the ocean” ending, (heaven forbid we give that away). Was anyone else mad that there wasn’t a big character reveal at the end? I felt a little bit duped.

Well, that’s it for the reviews for this season. I hope you liked them. The Character Countdowns will appear Tuesday and Wednesday night. It’s way too hard to do 2 in the same day, so I’m going to split up the 2 hours. Until then let me know what you thought about the finale. Do you agree with me? Or do you think I’m insane in saying that this finale, and season as a whole, was just average by 24 standards?

24 Episode 22–2:00a.m.-3:00a.m.

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Well, that show was just full of “Jack-tion” wasn’t it?

I lost count of how many people Jack killed in that episode, but it was quite a few. I did however find myself upset that Jack would underestimate himself so much.

“There’s a good chance this won’t work and we won’t get out of this alive.” BAH! Come on Jack, you’ve got a lot more confidence in yourself than that. You took out Cheng’s men with ease. Snapped that guy’s neck like a twig. Nadia and Morris weren’t too bad themselves. Nadia pulled the old James Bond chop in the back trick while Morris went for the Princess Bride move of jumping on the bigger man and strangling him until he finally passed out.

As I was watching tonight’s episode though, I came to realize that Cheng is Jack’s “White Whale.” He was so close this time to putting a bullet in the man that tortured him for two years, but did he? Nope, he had to save is fake nephew/most likely real son from falling to his death. But, I’m confident that Cheng will be going to the big Chinese Consulate in the sky before this day is through.

Man, Phillip Bauer really is a sociopath isn’t he? That guy just doesn’t give up. Now that Jack foiled the plot for Cheng to get Josh Phillip is now blackmailing Vice President Powers Boothe. There’s a lot of things that need to be answered regarding Phillip Bauer, first and foremost is why in the world does he have that disgusting old man mullet? Second, why is he hell-bent on destroying America? And third, what did Jack do in his childhood (maybe wrecked the family car or accidentally broke his Father’s favorite porcelain figurine of Kim Jong Il) that made his dad hate him so much?

So here we are staring down the mouth at a two hour season finale that is promising to shock and awe us up to the very last minute. Anything can happen, and us 24 fanatics know that anything most likely will.

24 Episode 20–1:00a.m.-2:00a.m.

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Understatement of the decade:

“You’re cursed Jack. Everything you touch winds up dead.” –Secretary Heller

Well, besides Jack trying to talk to Audrey, this episode didn’t have any Jack in it at all. I can’t believe with now just 3 episodes left that they are still going with these essentially Jack-less episodes. In my opinion we need the last 3 episodes to be so chalk full of Jack Bauer that we hardly ever see anyone else.

We spent a whole lot of time in Washington watching the less than attractive Lisa, get her freak on with that dude from Stargate. What disturbs me about this is that this is a plot device taken straight out of the very first season. Remember David Palmer’s aide was having that torrid love affair with one of the Drezen? It’s getting a bit scary how many times they’re using plots over and over.

I did like Doyle in this one though. He played a great part, but he should’ve had enough guts to get Jack a gun and go with him to the room. Two of them would’ve been a lot better than Jack just running into a room with no escape.

Nadia has hopefully learned her lesson. There’s nothing I can’t stand more than when we have to waste our time in 24 listen to bureaucratic nonsense “Chain of Command” ect. Whenever that happens, I’m just hoping that we can get back to the real stories and characters we care about.

I know there were a lot of things I didn’t like about this episode. It was rather slow. I did however like that VP Powers Boothe didn’t hold back in telling Tom that he’d also been sleeping with Lisa. That was a nice change from the norm of people trying to hide whatever they can.

I just have a few questions after this episode.

1) Why in the world did CTU have 2 helicopters on the ground ready to take Audrey and Jack back to CTU? Why weren’t those choppers scouring the land for Cheng?

2) Why do we care about Chloe and Morris’ personal lives? Too much time has been wasted on this subplot.

3) Where in the world did Secretary Heller come from? Didn’t he drive his care off a huge cliff in season 4? Or was it 5? Anyway, I can’t remember, but did we ever see him after he plunged off that cliff? I’ll tell you what if that guy’s still alive, then Tony definitely can still be alive.

4) Will the next 3 episodes be off the hook? I sure hope so. It’s May sweeps time and these 24 writers better get it in gear to set off these last 3 episodes. Tonight’s episode just won’t cut it for a season finale. Here’s hoping we get some better episodes coming up.

24 Episode 18–11:00p.m.-12:00a.m.

Monday, April 16th, 2007

I think we can all agree that this episode was made for the sole fact of leading us up to the final few episodes of the season.

Even though this episode was sort of a primer for the rest of the season I still really enjoyed it; Chloe working under the radar, Jack being arrested right after he’s saved the world, and the VP still wanting the Presidency.

Let’s first talk about President Wayne. Everything looked great. He was running the country, he wasn’t whispering as much as usual, and he even got everyone out of that horribly lit bunker. Then he has to go and have a cerebral hemorrhage and ruin all of Jack’s plans.

Jack on the other hand cares quite a bit (maybe a little too much) about Audrey. But, everyone that Jack knows and loves either gets killed or leaves him and I’m guessing he doesn’t want that to happen again to Audrey. He must feel completely responsible for her capture because she was out looking for him. So, from there I can see why he needs to do what he’s doing.

One of my favorite parts of the episode was when Jack went up to the two guards who were guarding the nukes and starting yelling at them. If I were that guard I would’ve opened up the gates too.

Doyle is actually becoming a very interesting character. First he’s thanking Jack for securing the bombs. Next he’s holding a gun in Jack’s face when Jack is trying to take the “component” from the nuke. I’m thinking there’s going to be a time during these last few episodes where Doyle has to make a choice of whether to save Jack’s life or to follow orders and I think he’s going to save Jack. It’s just a hunch, but everything seems to be building up to that point. Much like Chase when he had thought Jack had switched sides and joined the drug cartel.

But, now things in the White House are very different. VP Powers Boothe is back in power but Tom still has the tape of him conspiring to commit perjury. I think Tom may use the tape in some kind of power grubbing scheme later on, or keep it just in case. Whatever Tom is planning I’m sure we’ll see the results of it soon.

Overall this was a solid episode to get us ready for the home stretch. Only six episodes left and still anything can happen, and I bet it will.

24 Episode 17–10:00p.m.-11:00p.m.

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Up until the last few minutes, this episode was good but not great. After the last few minutes I want to put it right up there with one of the best episodes this season.

Right when we think that Jack has become a guest star on his own show, this episode brings him back in a huge way.

But, first let’s start off talking about President Wayne, and giving kudos for all the readers that commented on the fact that he was launching a “dud nuke” just to get some information out of “The Ambassador” (I love how they talk about him like he’s the only ambassador in the world). The rouse worked and we were able to find out there was a general in “Fayed’s country” that was calling the shots for Fayed.

Jack on the other hand thought up a brilliant plan of his own. In just minutes they were able to stage a car wreck involving an armored car in order to get Fayed to think he’d been rescued from a terrorist cell.

In the preview we were supposed to think Jack had been shot, I’m glad he wasn’t “just wearing a vest.” Although, I don’t think that networks should mislead viewers in previews like they so often do. (Side note: Was Jack wearing a vest, owas the team just firing blanks? Why in the world, if they were firing blanks, did the guys in the truck give Fayed a gun with real ammo?)

I knew that Fayed would somehow figure out that CTU was behind the plan. That sneaky general gave Fayed some sort of code meaning that he was talking under duress, and Fayed escaped in a garbage truck.

Now is where the episode got back to old 24 roots. The last five minutes is where this episode really shined. A deserted warehouse, Jack Bauer, and a half-dozen terrorists now those are ingredients to success with this show. The last moments of the episode reminded me of the last moments of season 1 where Jack went on his rampage because he thought Kim had died.

Jack is Jack again, which is what this season was in desperate need of. When Jack hung Fayed and said “Say hi to your brother for me,” that was just the icing on the cake. He even sat and watched, and even cracked a bit of a painful smile as he slowly raised the chain until Fayed was dead. Sadistic I know, but it was sorely needed.

Now this season is about to take a drastic turn. The Chinese have Audrey and there is still seven hours left. Could this be the vigilante mission that they have been hinting at ever since Jack found out that Audrey was dead? I sure hope so, there’s nothing better than a good revenge story.

I just have one more thing to say about this episode.

Welcome back Jack. Welcome back.

24 Episode 16–9:00p.m.-10:00p.m.

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Does everyone remember the “bizarro world” episode of Seinfeld? Well, I would like to welcome everyone to the “bizarro world” of 24.

This episode was completely bonkers, and quite a nice change from the formulaic rut that this season was getting into.

First of all, I think Wayne Palmer has gone mad on adrenaline. He wakes up from his coma, he stops the nuclear strike, Vice President Boothe threatens to take away his presidency by invoking the 25th amendment, Tom Lennox helps President Wayne by blackmailing Vice President Boothe, President Wayne wants more and more adrenaline, and then he’s all of a sudden launching the same nukes. I did not see that coming. Apparently President Wayne was just getting a bit of missile envy, and wanted to launch the nukes himself.

More bizarro stuff happened when Rick “Mikey Doyle” Schroder told Nadia to get information on Milo because he screwed up, she got the information and then Doyle destroyed it.

You think that’s the end of the bizarro things? Think again. Gredenko went to meet Fayed with a tracker implanted in his arm. Gredenko tipped off Fayed that CTU was there, and freely gave up his arm to be cut off. After that Fayed was done in by a bunch of hillbillies in a bar, oh sweet irony.

I really liked this episode. Right when we all thought 24 was headed down the same exact direction as it has gone before, they throw this episode at us and show us that 24 still has what it takes to make things exciting.

There are only 8 episodes left, and now I’m left wondering what in the world is going to happen in just 8 hours. With President Wayne gone mad, Fayed in custody, Gredenko lying on the beach with his arm cut off, Tom and Karen calling a truce, Nadia and Milo getting hot and heavy, Doyle actually looking out for other people, and Bill still recapping like crazy, there’s just no telling where 24 can go from here.

BRAVO! 24, BRAVO! Thanks for showing us all that 24 still is one of the most innovative shows on TV.

Best Quote of the Episode:
Jack Bauer “Just show me your head.”

24 Episode 15–8:00p.m.-9:00p.m.

Monday, March 26th, 2007

They finally have one of the big terrorists in custody, it’s about time.

Although tonight’s episode was a little less exciting as last week, it still had its moments. Didn’t Jack seem very Father like when he was talking to Brady? Those were some pretty interesting scenes, and you knew all would end up well, because the writers of 24 would’ve had to be pretty heartless to kill off Brady’s character.

So, who’s this new guy from Denver that pretended to help Doyle only to go behind his back and then get screwed anyway? For some reason he reminds me of the main terrorist Steven Saunders in season 3. At first I thought Doyle was going to hide the chip and I was pretty angry. But, maybe Doyle has a heart after all. Maybe, just maybe he’ll earn back our respect here at Watching24.com, but it’s going to take a while.

I have a question for all the terrorists that have tried to thwart CTU’s systems in the past. Umm…why haven’t you ever used one of those transponder-relay-chips before? That seems a whole heck of a lot easier than recruiting a mole and then fearing that mole will talk if they’re caught. I’m still not quite sure how that single chip was able to subvert the entire CTU system, but that’s 24 for you.

Now for the most pressing business of the episode, Nadia (oh baby) and Milo (oh no) have apparently hooked up. At first when Milo went in for his kiss I thought he was getting a little more torture out of the way, make sure she didn’t actually know anything else, I mean the way he pulled her hair makes me think that Nadia was secretly liking the choking she was getting from Doyle.

And now we come to the part I didn’t completely understand. So, Sandra Palmer has ordered Wayne be taken out of his coma, the doctor does it. Then Wayne starts “crashing,” his life is coming to an end right? Wait…nope…he’s totally fine, sitting up and talking like he hasn’t just been blown up and in a coma. I really wish they wouldn’t try and trick us with the “crashing” scene. Speaking of “crashing” what the crap has happened to Charles Logan?

One last note, is it just me or has Jack, overall, really taken almost a supporting role in this season? I swear, VP Powers Boothe, hasn’t been in nearly as many episodes as Jack this season, but I’m sure if you add up face time the VP is right up there with Jack. I understand that there is a lot going on in Washington with VP Boothe wanting to launch nukes because someone looked at him funny, but we need more Jack time, and by Jack time I mean Jack running in buildings, chasing people, and saving the world. There’s almost too many stories going on to focus on the things that make 24 what it is.

Go back and watch the first 4 episodes…it seems like a whole other season.

24 Episode 14–7:00p.m.-8:00p.m.

Monday, March 19th, 2007

By far the best episode since the 4th hour of this season.

As you can tell I really, really liked this episode. I was utterly shocked when we were told that Audrey had been killed in China while she was looking for Jack. That adds a great twist to the overall aspect of 24, and I couldn’t help but think that that would be a fantastic plot for next season’s 24. Could you imagine, Jack travels to China to take out everyone that wronged him and those that killed Audrey? Oh, man that would be a great twist. 24 solid hours of Jack at his vigilante best.

Sorry, I’m getting off track, okay back to the episode at hand. So we’re being led to believe that Nadia is the one responsible for leaking the terrorists the information. Personally, I don’t think she’s the one responsible and this storyline will serve as a sort of moral telling us all that we shouldn’t judge people because of their nationality. But, what I am clueless about is the person that is actually feeding the information to the terrorists. Is it Milo? He’s the one that let Nadia log in under his password. I’m really just not sure, and don’t have any really good guesses to who it could actually be.

In D.C. things are getting crazy, and for some reason that Presidential bunker is like a cave. I mean, seriously, can’t someone put in a few more light bulbs in that place? When those people walk outside when this day is through they’re going to burn out their retinas, there is no light in that place at all. Maybe all that darkness is fumbling around with VP Powers Boothe’s head because he’s not budging with his nuclear response against the unnamed Middle Eastern country. Even when the drone was found and lives were saved except for those poor, poor people that arrived at the bomb site before HazMat crews came and were exposed to the radiation.

Speaking of drones, not only can Jack fly helicopters (which we’ve learned in past seasons) but, even after spending two years in a Chinese prison camp Jack is still up to date on his drone piloting abilities. He successfully navigated the drone and landed it with out it blowing up. When Jack retires (which will NEVER happen) he always has a future as a video gamer, did you see how he controlled that joystick? WOW!

This was a great episode. The only down side was we found out that Sandra Palmer will be reappearing. She actually showed her face in this episode (which will get her some negative points in the Character Countdown) but no doubt she’ll be whining all the way through next week’s episode.

On the bright side though, Jack killed two more people (he’s up to twelve now), Chloe kissing Morris was hilarious especially when she told him point blank that it was to “check his breath,” and Rick “Mikey Doyle” Schroder is a punk, a real big punk and I’m half tempted to call him “Scrotum Face” from here on out…he really hasn’t aged well at all.

Oh and stay tuned for a contest that will be announced tomorrow…

24 Episode 13–6:00p.m.-7:00p.m.

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Tonight’s episode was another one of those Jack-less ones that we’ve come to know. Jack was in the beginning and the end, but no where really in the middle. The biggest story of tonight’s episode was Charles going to visit his ex-wife Martha, to see if Martha would be able to talk to the Russian President’s wife who in turn would talk to her husband who would make Markov surrender.

At first I thought the whole plotline was a ploy just to bring Martha into the picture. I was surprised by the twist they added on to the end which had the Russian President sanctioning the attack on his Consulate. That part caught me off guard, and I really liked how that turned out.

Now for Martha stabbing Charles…When they showed her chopping up the kiwi I was sitting there saying in my head, “Oh man she looks pissed, I bet she stabs him,” and she did. It still took me by surprise though. Oh, and I was extremely glad to see Aaron Pierce again. One of the few people that have lived and been in every season, he’s a great character and probably one of the most stand up men on 24, besides Jack of course.

We also were treated to our first glimpse of Ricky Schroder’s character, and surprise he’s a real punk. What would CTU be without a mouthy, power hungry character coming in during the middle of the season? That’s always been one of the mainstays of 24. There’s always someone who just has to act like a jerk because he can. I can tell you Ricky’s going to be losing a lot of points on the Character Countdown.

I know I say this over and over, but Powers Boothe sure is frightening isn’t he? When he was threatening the Ambassador, I mean wow, that guy really knows how to get his point across. I’m not sure that I believe just yet that he didn’t have something to do with the assassination. He sure is playing along with it to his own benefit, but I think that there may be something that he isn’t letting on. He must have had a hand in it somewhere.

Oh and before I finish this review, it sure has been a long time since we’ve seen old Fayed. Am I the only one or did it seem like it took Fayed the same amount of time to reach the “Shadowlands” as it took for Assad to fly to D.C.? Seems like Fayed has been driving for the past three episodes I’d almost forgotten about him. I think Fayed’s hours are numbered, and then the rest of the season will focus mainly on Gredenko, unless we haven’t even seen the real bad guy yet.

I liked tonight’s episode, but it wasn’t as good as last week’s. I hope from here on out we get a lot of Jack Time, because it’s surely lacking right now. Let’s not forget that 24 is Jack Bauer and Jack Bauer is 24, so hopefully the rest of the season realizes that.

(Sorry if this review was a little incoherent. I’ve had the flu or something all day and I’ve barely been able to move. But, I gotta watch 24 right? Anyway, the Character Countdown should be up tomorrow, plan on it, unless I get sicker then it’ll be a couple days. Thanks everyone!)

24 Episode 12–5:00p.m.-6:00p.m.

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Wasn’t this episode just what this season needed?

After a few lackluster, tired episodes, this one really got this season back on track. Jack is back, and was in this episode enough to make it exciting. Charles Logan is doing a great job at actually helping and not being offended by everyone in the world not trusting him. Powers Boothe is doing a fine job scaring the pee out of me, and Morris is doing things with computers that have never been done before, oh yeah 24 is back.

The first thing that really blew me away was how fast Tom Lennox gave up Reed and his henchman. I gained a new found respect for Tom at that moment. Although he was an idiot by not reporting the entire thing sooner, but he still did the right thing and he’ll sure earn a lot of points on the Character Countdown for that one.

Doesn’t Jack ever learn? Foreign consulates are like Jack Bauer’s kryptonite. We all know what happened to him when he stormed into the Chinese consulate, and now Jack’s tied to a chair in the Russian consulate. He got the information he needed but for some reason let down his guard and was so easily caught it made him look like an amateur. He did end up convincing one Russian man inside the consulate to help him out, but as we all saw that man got a bullet in the head by a shadowy figure, wouldn’t have been great if it was Jack’s Dad (I know it was just some other Russian crony but still wouldn’t that have been a great twist?)

Just for further notice I will not refer to the Vice President as Noah. To me, that name just doesn’t convey the utter scariness that is Powers Boothe. I know I say that over and over, but it’s true, especially in this episode. He’s finally getting some scenes that are longer than one minute at a time, and he’s making good use of them. He has added much needed acting ability to this season’s cast.

So, we have two hours before Gredenko releases the drones of death, and Jack is still tied to a chair. His Russian friend is lying in a pool of his own blood and there seems to be no hope for Jack. Bill is putting together a task force which may or may not take the consulate by force. It’s all up in the air now, which is the way 24 should be. Maybe Jack can perform another vampire escape.

Like I mentioned above, there was just one thing that really bothered me about this episode. Jack Bauer, special agent extraordinaire, gets all the information he needs, but doesn’t realize that after he steps away from the consulate that they are going to come in after him? He didn’t even get to put up a fight at all. It was almost as if he thought he’d walk out the front door, I have no idea what he was thinking. The Jack Bauer I know would’ve picked up the consulate and drug him outside the door with a gun to his head the entire way until he was back on American soil. Tell me what’s wrong with that plan?

All in all this was one of the stronger episodes of this season, and has set a new tone for the rest of it. I can’t wait to see what happens next…

Well, can you believe it? This season is almost half over. It’s gone by way too fast. But, being half over means that only the best parts are yet to come.

Last week we were left wondering if President Wayne and Assad were killed in the bomb blast, what was going to happen to Tom Lennox, if Charles Logan is being sincere in wanting to help and Jack was planning on invading another consulate. I guess Jack just doesn’t learn his lessons.

As always here’s the preview for tonight’s episode, via YouTube and we’ll talk about it after the jump:

24 Episode 11–4:00p.m.-5:00p.m.

Monday, February 26th, 2007

One question…where was Jack? I think he spent the entire episode putting on a suit to look like a member of Charles Logan’s detail, in order to go interrogate the Russian Consulate.

Sorry, I’m getting ahead of myself, I was just a bit mad that we hardly saw Jack at all this episode.

So, this is the first time I noticed that gigantic bruise on the back of Morris’ head. I’m surprised, that after that beating he took that’s about all he does have. Man, usually when people take beatings from baseball bats and drills they’re in the hospital for a week or so.

But, Morris did show us all, that he is kicking the drink, at least for now. He poured down the rest of his liquor, and I bet he was wishing that he would’ve kept his Red Bull.

Chloe spent the entire episode covering for Morris. To tell you the truth, it was getting a bit tiresome. But, I think Morris can do his job, and he’ll do it well. I mean he armed a bunch of nuclear bombs after he’d been drilled in the arm and beaten with a bat, so working at CTU under “pressure” should be a walk in the park for him right?

The biggest surprise of the episode to me was the fact that Charles Logan doesn’t want anything in return for helping Jack find Gredenko. I was sure he was trying to broker some kind of deal. But, I guess the deal he has now is pretty cushy. He just sits at his ranch, with Secret Service personnel, and none of the American people know anything about what he did.

But, apparently Logan knows how to find Gredenko, and he needs to go talk to the Russian Consulate to find out that information. He’s also become a man of faith, reciting and highlighting scriptures, that was a bit weird.

So, what in the world was that thing that Gredenko got delivered to him? The only things that I heard that were used to describe it were that it was paid for by the American taxpayers, and “drone.” What could it be? And how could it be any worse than nuclear weapons?

Reed actually went through with it. I thought he was going to get cold feet about doing it. I thought that at the last second he wasn’t going to do it, but he did. He detonated a bomb that blew up Assad, and President Wayne. We don’t know yet if both men are dead or alive. I think Assad is a goner, personally and that President Wayne will live, meaning we’ll be seeing a lot more of Sandra Palmer. Those are my guesses anyway. I was also happy to find out I was right, at least according to Tom. Tom told Reed that he was against him from the beginning, which was nice to hear, although Tom went about a really horrible way to make it known that the President’s life was in danger.

But, man Jack really wasn’t in this episode at all. He was in the first few minutes and the last few minutes and that was it. His kill count is going to go nowhere at this pace.

“I Trust You to Kill Me,” Review

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

On 24 Kiefer Sutherland plays the hard-nosed, no-nonsense Jack Bauer. But, in real life, Kiefer is very different.

A while ago I was able to watch Kiefer’s documentary about a band that was on his recording label. The band’s name is Rocco Deluca and the Burden. The documentary was filmed while the band went on tour in Europe, with Kiefer following them around doing whatever he could do to get them noticed.

While the film was actually made to get the band recognition, it ends up being mostly about Kiefer and how completely insane he really is. But, don’t get me wrong; he’s insane in a good way.

Kiefer goes all out all the time. His determination to get the band recognition is very endearing. He even ends up pimping himself out to do radio interviews about 24 and then he’s able to plug whatever show the band is doing that night.

One of the funniest parts of the movie is when Kiefer goes out on the streets to hand out fliers for the free concert they’re showing. Some people recognize him; some call him Jack Bauer, and others have no idea who he really is.

24 Episode 10–3:00p.m.-4:00p.m.

3:00pm–4:00pm

I really liked tonight’s episode, except for a few things, that I’ll talk about at the end.

Morris’ backstory of being an alcoholic is going to play in later in the season, and I’m really looking forward to that. I mean, what wouldn’t make someone get back on the wagon like arming a bunch of nuclear bombs for a terrorist? (Is it on the wagon or off the wagon, like Seinfeld, I’m not sure?)

Jack was able to find Milo and Marylin just in the nick of time, perfect Jack Bauer style. He also added two more people to his kill count. Throwing Marylin up against the wall, choking her (much like what he did to Audrey) was a nice touch. But, I don’t know why he was so bent out of shape about his team being killed. It seems like CTU has an endless supply of them.

One of the huge surprises of this episode, at least for me, was the fact that Tom had been playing Reed the whole time. I thought Tom was all for assassinating President Wayne. I have renewed faith in him now. Finally, he came to his senses. Although, he was probably doing it for selfish means, meaning that if he exposed an assassination plot then he’d be a hero I still liked what he did. Except then he got smacked in the face with a Mag Lite and, man that’s gotta hurt.

I was very glad that Jack finally found out that his Dad was behind everything. Now we can put that to rest. Everyone knows how crazy Farmer Hoggett actually is, and we don’t have to keep yelling at our TV screens, “Are you crazy! He’s the bad guy!”

Now as I mentioned before there were some things that I didn’t like. Couldn’t Jack at least have surrounded the building his Father was in, after he got the call from him and saw him on the roof? One call to CTU and that building could’ve been surrounded, with no escape. Speaking of escape, how does an old man run that fast? That speech Jack gave about turning his back on the family couldn’t have been more than 2-3 minutes. You’re telling me that his Dad would have enough time to run out of that room, without Jack hearing him, and then have time to set the phone on the ledge, and book it down the stairs to freedom? Yeah I didn’t buy that.

Other than that, I thought this was one of the better episodes. Like I said I’m glad their exploring a bit more of Morris’ character because I really like him.

Also, what does everyone think about the return of Charles Logan? Looking all Grizzly Adams-like. I wonder what is going to happen with that. Does he actually know something? Or is this all a ploy to get some sort of freedom? Of course we don’t know why he’s not rotting away in some prison, or why he hasn’t been hanged for treason, but I guess we’ll all find that out next week.

24 Episode 8 & 9

Monday, February 12th, 2007

1:00pm–2:00pm

Let me begin by saying that the episode was interrupted multiple times because of a shooting in Salt Lake, so I didn’t see everything.

I liked what I saw of the first episode, it was intense. Morris stood his ground as long he could. Fayed drilled his back for heaven’s sake! But, one thing I was thinking. If Morris is so amazingly smart at just about everything he does. Couldn’t he have programmed the trigger to make it look like it worked when in reality it wouldn’t when tried? Then again I did miss most of the dealings of Fayed and Morris, so I have no idea what went on outside of the drilling and Fayed killing Rita.
