Thoughts on 9PM to 10 PM

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Good morning, everyone! How about that episode? I kind of like it when an episode is a little more low key and not filled with explosions and a huge body count. Anyway… here’s a little run down and my thoughts on it all.

FBI/Former CTU

Well, Renee’s now truly become a part of the CTU bunch. Not only did she do a couple of things that she maybe shouldn’t have to help Jack, she also got suspended and taken into custody over it! You just aren’t a part of that group unless you’ve done all three. Speaking of people getting into trouble for Jack, it was pretty nice to get to see Chloe getting bailed out by Morris like that. I like her and I don’t wanna see the character get dragged down like that. I just wonder what effect Morris’ deal to get her off is going to have on them now. As for Jack… what can I say? He’s doing his annual ‘on the run because I’ve been framed/got in trouble and still have work to do’ thing. Pretty entertaining to watch though. Especially when Larry’s sitting there looking like his head’s about to explode. Can’t wait to see how he’s going to react when Jack saves them all and gets his inevitable free pass at the end of the season. Janis, meanwhile, continues to out geek someone on something only to be thwarted by something she can’t do. Nice to get a little Tony appearance as well.

The White House

I’m continuing to adore Olivia and think she’s obviously lying about that leak. She wants Ethan out and she’s gonna do it somehow. She really is like Sherry, huh? As for Ethan…. I love how he’s getting a hissy fit over being called out on his own crappy performance. He’s either the most incompetent CoS ever or he’s evil. How else has he missed all the stuff that happened at the White House under his nose? About time someone said so. As for the President… I’m continuing to like her much more than I did early on. Still, she needs to wise up because she’s getting played by someone, whether it’s Olivia or Ethan.

The Bad Guys

Hodges is getting pretty interesting, I think. He’s also a little more… crazy than most 24 villains, but it’s making him fun to watch. I mean, first a nice drink and now he’s kidding about pajama parties? I also love how they seem to be one step ahead of all the government people still. Wuinn killing Senator Hardass was also a big shocker. I didn’t think it would happen so quickly. So what did you all think? Post your thoughts below so we can chat about it. Take care and see ya tomorrow. I leave y’all with a preview for next week, thanks to the always awesome Jonas Hodges:

Thoughts on 6 PM to 8 PM

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

As you may have seen on my other blog, word press was not cooperating with me, so I was unable to post until now. Sorry about the delay. Anyway… let’s talk the 2 hour episode! If you haven’t seen it yet and don’t wanna know anything yet, why not head over here? (more…)

Spoof Talk

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Hey, everyone!! Sorry for the post being late today. I had some technical issues. Anyway…. to start your weekend off I thought I would share a couple of videos I found last night on YouTube. They’re spoofs of 24 that are pretty cool.

This first one is posted by damonayoung (the person who produced it) and wonders what would happen if things were wrapped up quick and neat. It takes place over 5 minutes:

I think what amuses me most about this video is Jack not being able to accept that he’s being given answers easily without actually having to torture someone. I like the suspects reaction to Jack as well. Overall, a pretty good job. The clip stars Joe Hernandez-Kolski, Jennifer Azar Burnham and Robert A. Johnson.

This other clip was posted by mrboyproductions and follows Jack and Tony through an unexpected day off due to the writer’s strike. Check it out:

This one has to be my favorite just because of the musical montage of Jack and Tony doing martial arts on a mountain and other stuff. Too funny! For anyone who doesn’t like Kim, you probably liked her being left in the tree (I know I did…) Let’s just hope the real version doesn’t come back with another cougar adventure.

So, what do you all think? Did you enjoy these? Think they need serious help? Let’s talk about it in the comments section. I’m out of here for now, but take care and I’ll see you all again Monday with more. Don’t forget- this week’s episode starts at 8 and lasts two hours.

Double Duty

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Hello again! It’s Monday, new episode day! To tide you over until the show comes on, I’ve got a second promo for tonight to share. It was posted by Jonas Hodges. I actually really like this one better than the one that aired after last week’s episode. It played a different part of the Jack and Renee fight, which I think was a huge improvement. I’m already dreading the slapping scene. It could end up playing out better than it looks, but still… anyway, here it is:

Also, I was reading through the 24 wikipedia page and I saw something I had missed about last week’s episode. I’m sure if you’ve been reading all my posts, you know I’m a big fan of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Well, one of the writers from that show is now working on 24 and actually was in the latest episode. His name’s David Fury and he was the guy that was having a meeting with Olivia Taylor. He gets chased away by Aaron. He actually did pretty good, I thought. This wasn’t his first time appearing in a show he was writing on, either. Back in the Buffy days, they did a musical episode called ‘Once More, with Feeling’. The people of Sunnydale were being forced to burst into song by a demon and Fury played one of the residents singing about his dry cleaning. Here’s a short clip of it for ya:

Besides his Buffy and ANGEL credits, he also has worked for Lost, The Jackie Thomas Show (anyone but me actually remember this one?) and Pinky and the Brain (best kid’s cartoon ever!). Well, that’s it for now. Take care and see you next time.

What I’ve Learned This Week

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Good morning again! Ah, Friday…. don’t ya just love em? A weekend ahead, a new episode in a few days… Speaking of, I thought maybe we ought to take some time to reflect on the many lessons we can learn from 24 each week. This is what I learned from the latest one:

1) The President and Ethan can’t agree on anything. They *must* argue about any and all issues that come across the Preisdent’s desk.

2) Ex-CTU people are the only the only trust-worthy characters. Anyone else can be revealed as a mole at any moment.

3) Never interrupt Olivia Taylor when she’s conducting business.

4) Warrants are issued at the speed of light.

5) Blackmail always works.

6) It’s ok to potentially expose yourself as a traitor to your country, but being a cheater is something that must be hidden at all costs.

7) Dubaku is smarter than all the other people in this conspiracy put together.

8) Even evil, genocidal terrorists can be charming and sweet.

9) Putting yourself at risk for capture is fine, so long as you get revenge on your traitor girlfriend first.

10) Never ever insult Jack in front of Chloe.

11) Larry has no idea how to set up a computer network.

So, that’s what I’ve learned this week from the show. What about you? Are there any lessons I may have left out? Comment and let me know about it. Take care and I’ll see you next time. I leave you with a promo for next time, once again thanks to Jonas Hodges.

Recap: 3-4 PM

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Hello, again. So let’s talk the latest episode, shall we?

Rouge CTU (and FBI)

Not really rouge anymore. They’ve now joined up with the President and Ethan, as well as Agent Moss at the FBI. I’m thinking that wasn’t really the smartest move after an operation to rescue the First Gentleman goes very wrong. The Matobu decoy they sent to try and buy some time ended up getting blown up by Dubaku’s people, along with the agent who was driving him. Meanwhile, Moss isn’t too happy when Renee goes along with Jack’s idea to hold Vossler’s wife and kid at gunpoint to get the dirty SS agent to talk. Surprisingly (or not, since this is 24), Vossler breaks and reveals where Henry is being held. When Jack and Renee arrive, a gunfight ensues that gets Henry shot. They better hope he survives if they want the President on their side. Also, Janis calls out Sean on his fling, while Sean spends a lot of the episode complaining about how they were kept out of the loop on the Matobu rescue.

The White House

After her husband gets kidnaped and the bad guys make a threat on his life, Ethan tells her that no one will blame her for backing down on Sangala. Even though you can see she really wants to, she doesn’t. She thins it would be completely unfair to have the American people sacrifice (the plane crashes, chemical plant) if she can’t as well. Meanwhile, she’s met with the rouges and has demanded answers. They explain about the corruption in the government. Something that is quickly confirmed by Ethan when he comes in to tell her that Gedge was found dead alongside Samantha and was probably part of the plot against Henry. She agrees to work with them and they put the ill-fated mission I mentioned before into place. I think it was better when Jack and Co. were working alone.

The Bad Guys

So, Dubaku has a double life going on (complete with waitress girlfriend) that is starting to get in the way of his work. Girlfriend wants him to come by for dinner, but he can’t. Being a terrorist is busy work, after all. She pouts a little, but is totally sweet and understanding. She’s also very defensive of him when her sister starts in on not trusting him. I, meanwhile, start trying to calculate about how fast they’re going to join Vossler and others in the afterlife. You know the nosy sister is going to get it at least. Especially after she calls and informs him she knows he’s not who he says he is and demands that he break up with her sister. Yeah, that’s totally going to work out for her. My guess is he’s heading over there right now. Later, Dubaku is informed that the ‘prime minister’ isn’t getting out of the car that was supposed to deliver him to them. He realizes they’ve been had and gives the order to take care of them and the First Gentleman. That last part may have just been stopped by Jack and Renee, who blow through his minions pretty quickly. Now they just gotta hope 911 gets there in time to save Henry.

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll leave you with a preview for next time, thanks to Jonas Hodges:

News Recap….

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Good morning, everyone! I hope y’all had a great weekend and you are ready for the new episode tomorrow. Before we get into countdowns, recaps and all I wanted to share some articles I found. A couple a little older, one is from only a few days ago. The first one is an interview Cherry Jones did with Newsweek. It doesn’t really get too much into the plot lines, but it does talk about who she modeled Taylor after, being anonymous and what she thought of the show when she first saw it. As usual, she comes across as a lot of fun and she doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously.

The next one is from the Boston Herald and has TV presidents giving advice to Barack Obama. Presidents from the West Wing, Battlestar Galactica and 24 all contribute some words of wisdom. It’s pretty amusing. I personally like Wayne Palmer’s and Charles Logan’s the best.

Finally, there’s another article from the Boston Herald that’s dated only a few days ago. It’s about Annie Wersching and her role on 24. She talks about that scene where she gets buried, being a fan of the show before she was cast (a week before the filming started) and how she celebrated the premiere of season 7. It’s a pretty good read. I think this is my favorite show to read interviews about. Everyone in the cast comes off pretty well and they all see very happy and grateful to be a part of the show. It’s pretty cool to read that when you have some stars out there being less than humble or even putting down the show. I think some fans of an ABC series can relate to that one…

Finally, it’s from a little bit back, but here’s an interview with Sprague Grayson. She’s playing the President’s daughter, Olivia. The funny part is they talk about how she seems to get killed in every series she’s been in. Will the same fate await her on 24? She’s not saying. Check it out thanks to Jonas Hodges:

So what do you think? Was the advice the presidents gave good? Did you like the things Cherry and Annie had to say? Comment and let’s chat about it. Take care and I’ll see you next time.

Getting Ready…

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend and you’re ready for another week of talking about 24. I’m gonna try and get some more fun features going at some point this week or next, but for now I thought I’d mention a little something that’s been talked about a lot lately.

Not long ago a law was passed requiring stations to switch to digital signals instead of the analog signals we use now. This will pretty much make any TV that does not have digital cable or satellite TV about as useful as a CTU perimeter. The deadline for the switch was set for February 17th and people without the digital cable and satellite services have been told to go to their local retailers and get special receivers to get the new signals. Like the whole Y2K mess, people have been rushing around trying to get themselves set up before the deadline.

If you’re one of them, you just might have lucked out. I found an article on Yahoo!News saying that the White House is expecting the House to pass a bill that would change the deadline to June 12th to give everyone an opportunity to get ready. It’s not set in stone yet, so I would go ahead and see about getting those receivers if your TV will need one. If you want more information on the switch (including how to get discounts on a receiver), check out the official site. Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and I’ll see you next time. I leave you with a clip of The Office that was made 24-style. It’s pretty amusing… check it out, courtesy of buttercups66:

Admitting a Problem is the First Step…

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Hello again! I wanna thank everyone for their comments and apologize to those who asked questions awhile back that I didn’t answer until yesterday. I didn’t see them until the new wordpress look came into effect. That said- let’s get down to business, huh?

So, I’m used to watching shows from people like Joss Whedon who tend to pretend everything is great and refuse to acknowledge when they do stupid things with their plots. In fact, when a particular season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was widely mocked, he claimed people just ‘didn’t get it’. That’s why I was so happy to read a story shared on some forums yesterday. Apparently, Carlos Bernard did a radio interview and talked about visiting the writer’s room occasionally. One day, he walked in and saw them all wearing t-shirts that said the words ‘season 6′ on them. When he asked what was up with that, he was told they were wearing them to remind themselves of all the problems last season and shame themselves into never letting such bad writing happen again.

Now, from what I remember of Season 6, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Was it great? No. I remember being pretty bored at some points by what they were doing. Still, I think it’s awesome that they are taking that criticism so seriously and they aren’t just pretending it’s not their fault at all for fans and others not really enjoying that season. Here’s hoping other writers follow their example. So what does everyone else think. Was season 6 bad? Are you wondering what all the complaining was about? Be sure to comment and let me know. Take care and I’ll see you later on today with another post. For now, I leave you with a couple of clips of Kiefer on the Jimmy Kimmel show, thanks to the show’s official youtube channel. Enjoy em!

Day 7, 12 PM to 1 PM Recap

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Good morning! I’m back and here to give you a recap of the latest episode in case you didn’t get to see it. It opens up with Jack, Tony and the rest of Emerson’s gang at the Prime Minister’s residence, trying to get one of his men to open the safe room. Since the room can only be opened from inside, Emerson has them hack into the video phone system and informs him that the guard will be killed if he and his wife don’t come out in the next minute. Naturally, the guard and the PM refuse. Emerson is just about to kill the guard when a call comes in from the FBI. He and some of the others decide they have to leave now. Jack and Tony convince them that there is time and they can’t leave without their targets. They say they can chase them out with some homemade gas, which is sent into the room through the ventilation system (great security, by the way…) It almost doesn’t work, but the PM’s wife panics and opens the door. They get led out and into a truck.

Renee, meanwhile, has arrived and is watching the group climb into the truck. She had gone ahead to the house despite Moss’ order to come back to the office. It seems that Tanner’s lawyers moved fast and got a complaint filed against her with the Attorney General. She calls Moss back to fill him in on what she’s seeing, but is captured before she can give him a plate number or any other information. She’s led into the truck along with everyone else.

Back at the FBI office, the people from the Attorney General’s office wanna speak with Janis, too. They were told about her stalling the lawyers. Janis tries to act like she was not involved, of course. Before they can take her away to interview her, Moss comes along and insists they need her to handle communications right now. He gives her an assignment and tells the guy to wait his turn. Elsewhere in the office, Sean is apparently messing around with another agent named Erica. When she mentions his wife’s plane getting grounded he gets a kinda smug look and talks about being lucky. He doesn’t seem to be trying too hard to hide what he did, does he? He and Janis later intercept a phone call between Emerson and the others in which he is ordered to get rid of Renee since they know she doesn’t have any other information that can be used against them. Moss makes Sean and Janis work on tracing the call again and continues to blow off the guy with the Attorney General.

There’s not too much to say about the White House. It’s pretty much the same story- President’s being advised to call off the invasion, but she refuses. Not even the information that the PM has been abducted changes her mind. I, meanwhile, continue to be suspicious of the Chief of Staff and Secretary of State. Mr. Taylor is, yet again, getting Brian to help him with the investigation into his son’s death since there is new evidence. Brian agrees and they leave. Henry is surprised when they end up at Samantha’s apartment. Even more surprised when Brian puts on some gloves and reveals he’s a bad guy. Henry’s been poisoned and Samantha is being led there by another corrupt agent. They plan to kill her and make it look like Henry did it before killing himself as well.

Finally, what is one of the creepiest segments, in my opinion. Emerson has directed them all to a construction site and ordered Jack to kill Renee now that they know she hasn’t learned anything dangerous to them. He leads her several feet away and they argue a bit, Renee telling him if he’s going to shoot her he’s going to have to look her in the eyes, because she won’t turn around. He forces her to and mutters something to her about getting her out of this before just barely grazing her with a bullet. She falls over and plays dead while Jack dumps her into a hole. He’s taken by surprise, though, when Emerson orders him and Tony to bury her. The last shot we see is from Renee’s perspective as the dirt covers her eyes and the silent clock ticks. Well, that’s it for this episode. Take care and I’ll see you next time. I leave you with the preview for next week. As usual, it’s thanks to Jonas Hodges Enjoy it!

Movie Talk

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Happy Friday, everyone!! Are you all ready for the weekend? I know I am! Before it comes, though, I have something to share with you guys that I found on yahoo!news. If you’re a big fan of the show, I’m sure you’ve all heard the talk about a big-screen version of 24. It’s actually been floating around for years now. The only thing standing in the way is the fact Executive Producer Howard Gordon doesn’t want to make it until after the show is over. He thinks they can’t really exist side-by-side and I tend to agree.

Well, he and Kiefer recently spoke to the press about the movie and have said it’s still going to happen. They just don’t know exactly when because they’re taking the show day-by-day. Gordon did mention, though, that he and Kiefer have been playing with the idea of ending the series at the end of the eighth season. Which means that the show could potentially have only one more year left in it. Whenever the show does eventually end, as all do, Gordon says there’s a real possibility that the movie could send the show off with a bang- literally. If you wanna read more and see what he means, head on over here. There’s also a very cool quote about Jack and being a human being from Kiefer in the article.

Well, I guess that’s about it for today. Since the new episode is only a few days away, I wanna leave you with two promos for the new episode, courtesy of Jonas Hodges on youtube. Enjoy and don’t forget to check back on Sunday for the Character Countdown!

Premiere, Part 4

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Good evening, everyone!! As promised, I’m here to give you the last part of the premiere recap. The FBI is trying to find Jack and Tony, following their escape last episode. Renee is especially determined to find them. When the President and Ethan discover this, they let the FBI have it for letting the men get away. They jump right into trying to get themselves off the hook by identifying the sniper from earlier, a man named Alan Tanner. He used to be in special forces and was in a dispute with the government over Gulf War Syndrome. He’s out cold in the hospital, but Renee makes plans to interview him when he wakes up. The president, meanwhile, switches to arguing with Ethan (I sense a trend starting…) over whether or not to call off the troops. She says she can’t just give in to terrorists the first time one asks after running on promises of doing the exact opposite. Ethan disagrees.

Jack and Tony meet with Bill and Chloe, Jack wanting to know how on earth Tony is still alive. Tony says he was given a shot that revived him and spent some time working with this group for real, because he was so angry about what happened to Michelle. Finally, they came up with a plan he knew was going too far and went to Bill for help. That’s when he started working for the good guys again. Later on, he calls David Emerson (the leader of the group) and tells him about Jack and how he helped him escape from the FBI. He says Jack is willing to help in exchange for help in getting out of the country.

Henry, meanwhile, is still reeling from Sarah confessing that his son was, in fact, killed and asks Agent Gesh to take him to meet Sarah in person. Gesh isn’t happy about it, but he relents after Henry promises this will be the last time he asks for something involving this from him. Right after, The President comes in and tells Henry what’s been going on and asks for some advice. He tells her he trusts her to make the right call, no matter what he decision is. Awww…. later on, Sarah provides him with proof of his son’s murder and begs him to leave her out of it from now on since her own life was threatened if she told anyone anything about this.

Renee and Sean are discussing the search for Jack and Tony when Janis comes along and tells Renee that Alan has woken up. Rene wants to go talk to him and wants Janis with her. Especially once she finds out lawyers are on the way. As they leave, Sean’s wife calls, anxious because her plane’s just circling with several others. He lies to her about everything being cool and then snaps at a co-worker in frustration. Later, he impersonates Larry to get his wife’s plane grounded sooner. Yeah, he’s not gonna pay for that one later…

On the way to the terror hide out, Tony fills Jack in on David and the group. Jack isn’t happy to notice that Tony seems to still admire the guy. Tony assures him that he can do what has to be done to stop the group from succeeding. When they arrive at the house, Tony tries to convince David that they need Jack around to help, but David isn’t so sure. He doesn’t really trust him. Jack finally takes a guy hostage and argues that he can get the job done and he’s here because he has nowhere else to go.

The President meets with the Prime Minister and tells him about the threat and how they’re considering backing down for now. He isn’t happy and begs the President to reconsider this, especially since so many people were counting on the support of the US. She promises to do what they can and yells at Ethan for not filling her in on all the details on the Sangala situation.

Bill and Chloe overhear a plot to kidnap the Prime Minister and she gets a little uncomfortable with this all. She thinks they should report what’s going on, but Bill reminds her they have to keep Tony and Jack’s cover and get to Dubaku if they’re ever going to get to the bottom of his full plans.

Meanwhile, Renee and Janis are arriving at the hospital to interview Tanner. Renee asks Janis to stall the lawyers while she talks with Tanner on her own. When he refuses to talk, she resorts to some of Jack’s old methods and Tanner spills everything he knows. She calls Moss to let him know that the terrorists are planning to kidnap the Prime Minister and they plan to try and capture Tony then. Word is passed along to the Prime Minister’s people, who lead him and his wife to safety. The episode ends with a big fight and the Prime Minister and his wife hiding in the building. I leave you with a clip from the premiere event, thanks to upalisevise on youtube. Take care and see you on Sunday!!

Premiere, Part 3

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Good afternoon, everyone!! Sorry for the post delay today. A minor emergency came up last night and kept me from being able to get the post typed up and all until now. With no further delays, here is the premiere, part 3! In case you missed them, here are parts 1 and 2.

We begin the episode with the President listening to a message from the General with Ethan. She is not happy about the situation and wants to see what they can do about getting that code the terrorists stole changed. She’s told it’ll take 6 days to do it, which is time they really don’t have. She then says she wants Almeida brought in and interviewed immediately.

Renee’s boss confronts her about the little side mission she went on with Jack, furious she lied about where they were going. She argues that there is a mole within the FBI and they had to work more discreetly. He lets it go, but orders here to run everything else by him from now on. Jack doesn’t like that, but Renee insists they can trust him.

Janis is preparing Tony to be interrogated, even asking if he’s comfortable enough (they really are taking this ‘no torture’ thing seriously). While she’s doing that, Jack and Renee are discussing the mole situation. She insists that everyone is being watched very closely, although the others in the office are not happy about the restrictions they’re under now.

Dubaku, meanwhile, is furious to learn about Tony’s capture. He wants to move now so he can get back at the US for his brother’s death before any other setbacks happen.

Back at the FBI, Jack is trying his best to get them to let him interview Tony, since they have a long history. They finally agree and Jack confronts Tony about what he’s been doing, demanding answers. Tony won’t talk, though… except for going off on an anti-government rant that ends with Tony accusing Jack of spitting on Teri’s grave by continuing to help the US. Jack, obviously, doesn’t take that well and is led out of the room, with Tony using the phrase ‘deep sky’. It’s an old CTU code and Jack calls the number it’s talking about…. Bill Buchanan answers the phone and he tells Jack he will have to call back on a more secure line.

While all that’s going on, Henry is talking to Ethan about the death of the Taylor’s son. Ethan argues against the theory, making it clear people are starting to wonder about his sanity and reveals that his son was under investigation for insider trading, but the President had kept it quiet. He later gets into a fight with the President over withdrawing their forces from Sangala, something she is opposed to. Meanwhile, Henry calls Sarah to apologize for his behavior. She says she has to meet with him in person.

Later, Bill calls Jack and informs him that Tony isn’t a traitor. He, Bill, Chloe and a couple others are working in secret to try and stop all the corruption in the government. He tells Jack they need Tony out of the FBI offices. At the same time, Tony is being interrogated by Larry. He’s showing pictures of the horrible things done to the people of Sangala, trying to appeal to his conscience. Tony won’t budge, leading Renee to ask if they should try some other tactics. Larry doesn’t like hearing that, thinking Renee is starting to think like CTU and says he wants Jack out of the investigation entirely. She doesn’t like it, but agrees to do with he says and prepares to get Jack de-briefed.
Meanwhile, Janis thinks she’s found the mole (Sean). He just happens to walk in as she’s looking at the records he accessed and shouldn’t have, making her freak out and finally confront him. He denies having done anything wrong and says he just wanted to find out if his wife had ended up on one of the planes.

Now that Jack knows what Tony’s up to, he jumps into action, attacking Renee so she can’t stop him from leaving the room. In typical Jack style, he goes through several people to get to Tony, helping him escape…. (part 4 to come tomorrow) I leave you with a little clip of the fight that led to Tony’s capture, along with some White House action. Enjoy and thanks to JonasHodges for posting.

Premiere, Part 2

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

As promised, I’m here to fill you in on what happened on the second half of the premiere. During the last episode, Air Traffic Control noticed an irregularity in their signals. Now, they’ve lost all communication with a commercial flight and Tony’s group now has control of the plane. They’re directing the plane as though they are ATC.

The FBI is busy with an interrogation gone wrong last episode. A man named Shekter had been shot by snipers whiled being interviewed by Renee and Jack regarding Tony’s whereabouts. This episode, the FBI has sealed off the building to catch the shooter. Jack is getting suspicious about the whole situation and is convinced that the fact this shooter was able to take the guy out when he did is proof there’s a traitor in the FBI (I guess they’re taking the new CTU thing pretty seriously). Renee doesn’t believe it, though.

Meanwhile, ATC is trying to get in touch with passengers on the plane to try and get word about the hijacking. Before they can, Tony calls ATC and has them check a video feed that shows two planes about the collide, one of them being the one he and his group is controlling. At the very last second, he yells to the pilot to pull up on the controls and the crash is avoided. Tony then tells ATC that was just a demonstration and they’ll see the real thing if they don’t get what they want. Later, the President is informed of what’s going on and starts demanding the FBI get some answers and take care of the situation. She has also met with the Prime Minister of Sangola to discuss taking care of the General and how to move ahead from there. They have the press secretary give a news conference about it.

Jack, meanwhile, is sitting in an FBI car waiting for the sniper to be captured. While sitting there, an agent turns to him and starts telling him that he supports Jack and thinks the Senate hearings are wrong. Jack’s grateful for the support, but he says it is fair… the people can hear the truth and decide how far they’re willing to go. Jack asks to get some air and the agent lets him. While Jack is standing outside, he notices someone in FBI clothes walking away that sets off his spidey sense(tony sent someone to help the sniper get out) and tips off Renee. She checks into it and finds out the man is not, in fact, one of them and wants to report it. Jack convinces her to follow him instead. She agrees and they leave, arousing the FBI’s suspicions. Her boss questions her and Renee lies about where they’re going. He doesn’t believe her and spys on them, coming in time to catch the end up a big fight involving Tony.

Towards the end of the episode we find out that the surviving Dubaku is plotting against the US because he considers them responsible for his brother’s death. Also, Henry (the president’s husband) confronts his son’s ex, accusing her of knowing more than she says because he found money in an offshore account she received only three days after his son’s death. Stay tuned tomorrow to read how the rest of it all turns out. See ya next time!

I leave you with some commentary and a peak at what’s to come in hours 3 and 4 courtesy of bigedude44 on youtube. Enjoy!!

Kiefer on Letterman

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Good morning, everyone!! Later on tonight, I’ll have a recap of the two hour premiere for you. For now, I wanted to share a little run down of Kiefer Sutherland’s appearance on the David Letterman show. Most of the interview focused on Kiefer’s label and his rodeo days (and the fact 24 has lasted 7 seasons. Letterman was amazed, mentioning that every couple of minutes).

From what he said, it sounds like Kiefer is going to sign a new band to his label soon. They’ve also just finished the last project they’re planning for release this year. The label is a small operation and apparently is making nothing right now. It’s more a labor of love more about just getting new music out there. We’ll see how that all goes with the music business getting tougher lately.

Letterman was really fascinated with Kiefer having been in the rodeo and wouldn’t let the subject go, asking Kiefer to talk about how he got into it (he thought it’d be fun to do during a break between films), about how you don’t make much and the moment that made Kiefer decide to step away from it. He apparently saw a guy lose a thumb, something that he said happens often in that line of work. After that, he decided it was time to try and get back into the acting business. The interview showcases one thing I like about the guy, despite his occasional issues: he’s humble and can laugh at himself. If you want to see what I mean for youself, check out the video below.
