And the Raves Keep Coming…

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Hello again! With only four more days until the premiere, more reviews are coming out and they’re all raves. Variety, TV Guide and Hollywoodchicago.com have all praised the first four hours of the season, saying they are “smart”, “crisp” and that it’s an “excellent” premiere. And no, those are not quotes that I’m taking out of context. I have to say that this definitely gives me hope for the episodes to come.

There’s more good news out there… with the start of the season, there are all kinds of stories out there about the cast and the show. One in particular, from buddytv, discusses some of the changes this season and how the cast has reacted to it all.

Location manager John Latenser talked about how tough it was to shoot in Washington due to all the different districts. All the different jurisdictions kept them wondering if they were actually allowed to shoot in a spot only a few feet from one they knew they could film on. They did say, though, that taking the trip to do some filming has given the show a new energy and was exciting for them all. Especially once they found out they have several fans in high places. Check out the full story for yourself here.

There are also a couple of new interviews out there, courtesy of the FoxFix. One is with the producers and another is with John Voight. You can check them out below. They pretty much cover a lot of the same stuff we’ve talked about here, but it’s an interesting watch.

Ask Ausiello also has a little information for us. It’s not very spoilery, so I won’t put it behind a cut. According to him, you really wanna watch out for the words “deep sky”. Apparently, something big happens very quickly. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time. By the way… don’t forget that Kiefer’s being interviewed this week.

Looking Forward….

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Good morning and a Happy New Year to you all! Given the day, I thought I’d use this post to talk about some of the things I hope will happen in 2009 on 24. The ones that involve a spoiler, I will put behind a cut. Before I get to all that, I thought I’d get us into the New Year’s spirit. Here’s a video from one of my favorite shows when I was a kid, courtesy of dotjuh. Enjoy!

One of my hopes is that the extra time they have had to get the season in order leads to a great year full of exciting story telling. I admit, I found myself wandering here and there last season.

I’m looking forward to the move to Washington and hope that Jack does face a few consequences and doesn’t just magically win over the Congressional committee he’s going to testify to. He has pretty much been getting a free pass all along and it’d be interesting to see at least some people this year not get won over by him.

I’m looking forward to seeing this new President in action. I just hope she’ll be a better (and more successful) character then the ones who have come before her. It’d be nice to see at least one President not get taken out of commission and/or resign/be removed from office due to a scandal as almost all of them have.

Introducing…

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Good morning, everyone I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas out there had a great one and everyone has been having a great Holiday season so far. I thought I’d spend some time before the season starts introducing you all to the new cast members. I’ll start with the lady who has been described as the female lead: Annie Wersching.

Annie is mostly known for her guest appearances on shows like Charmed, Boston Legal, Supernatural and Cold Case but she’s done plenty more. Until 2007, she had a recurring role on the soap General Hosptial. She played a character named Amelia Joffe. On 24, she’ll be playing Renee Walker, a Special Agent in the FBI. It’s rumored she’ll have a lot of screen time with Jack in the upcoming season.

She’s got much more to her than acting abilities. According to her bio, she has a degree in musical theatre and used to compete as an Irish dancer when she was younger. Looks like she’s got plenty to fall back on if her character doesn’t make it through the day. Good luck to her in her new role If you want to hear her talk about the show and other stuff, check out this youtube video posted by FoxSource. I haven’t been able to sit and watch it yet, so I can’t promise there will be no spoilers. As soon as I get to watch it, I’ll edit this post with a little run down of what she had to say.

Well, that’s it for now. Take care and I’ll see you all again on Monday with much more.

More Deja-Vu….

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Good morning! As promised, I am here to share some more of my favorites who have turned up on 24 over the years. Do you remember the show Roseanne? In case you missed it, Sara Gilbert (Darlene) appeared on a few episodes of Season 2 as a computer analyst named Paula. Her character had a hard time with the CTU life, getting stressed out a few times during her stay.

Geoff Pierson is another great actor who turned up on the show. He was in seasons 3 and 4 playing John Keeler, the man who became president and ended up unable to perform his duties after his plane is shot down. I remember him from a show called Unhappily Ever After. Anyone but me remember it? It was a sitcom on what would become the CW that was basically a Married with Children type show. It was even produced by one of Married’s producers. Geoff played a used car salesman who has just gotten seperated and talks to a stuffed rabbit. You had to be there…

Bart Simpson herself, Nancy Cartwright, was also on the show. How’s that for casting? She played Morris O’Brian’s old AA sponsor during day 6. The show has also featured two talk show hosts, a NASCAR driver and former presidential candidate John McCain. He was in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it part in season 5. So much talent on this show, so little time to talk about it all! So, who did you recognize from something else? Was it a good thing or a bad thing? Comment and let me know! I leave you with a little clip of Eric Balfour from his days on the children’s show Kids, Incorperated. Enjoy!!

24: Redemption, Part 2

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

So, as I promised, I am here to give you part 2 of 24: Redemption. Catch up on the first half here. Let’s just right in, huh?

Taylor’s son is meeting with Chris, who wants to sell out his bosses now that he knows there is a connection to terrorism in the work he’s been doing for them. Roger isn’t quite sure what to make of his story since his secret service guy informed him Chris is messed up. He does, however, agree to look at the records Chris claims to have and see if there is anything he can do to help him. His girlfriend, Samantha, is pretty cool towards Chris. She doesn’t seem to like him at all and apparently works in the same office as Chris, since he says he will see her at work later on. (more…)

Rieko Alert!!

Monday, December 8th, 2008

I’m sure you all remember Reiko Aylesworth as Michelle Dessler on 24. Her brightest moment, I thought, was during season 3. This was when she had to take charge at a hotel that was infected with an air-borne virus, exposing herself to the threat as well. Highlights there include the scene where she was forced to shoot a guest to keep him from escaping and spreading the disease and another scene where she begs for suicide capsules for the guests, who are dying a horrible death from the disease. Her last appearance was during season 5, when she was killed by a car bomb in the first hour.

Well, you might not be able to see her on 24 anymore, but that doesn’t mean she’s not going to be on our TV screens. She recently signed on to appear in at least four episode of Lost on ABC. She’s going to be playing a character named Amy who loves the outdoors. That trait will come in handy there…. (unless she’s going to be in flashbacks before the crash). If you haven’t seen her in anything other than 24, let me give you a little taste of her outside the Michelle role. The clip below is from the series ER and features her as a chaplain at the hospital trying to counsel a patient who has committed murder. He wants her to tell him how to get forgiveness fast because he’s dying and scared of what’s waiting for him. When she doesn’t give him the answer he wants to hear, he gets angry and orders her to leave. Enjoy!

So what do you think? Did she do a good job? Are you looking forward to her stint on Lost? Are you wishing there was some way to get her back at CTU? Post your comments below and I’ll see ya next time with a recap of the 2-hour movie Redemption.

Parady Fun…

Friday, December 5th, 2008

So, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and 24 has been flatter a lot. Anyone remember the Simpsons episode that poked fun at the series? It was a great one and I’ll see if I can find any clips posted. For right now? I have another one to share. I was searching for 24 on youtube when I came across something call 1424. It is a three-part parady of our favorite show that takes the 24 world out of LA and into the past… the middle ages to be exact. And let me tell you… these people are serious! They have it all down: the shaky camera, the split screen… even the clock ticking down at the end of each part. Check them out below…

I have to say I adore the guy who is playing the Jack Baur character. He has the intense and gravely yell down pat. Bonus points to them for using another 24 convention. At one point, “Jack” is interrogating someone and just as the guy is about to crack, an arrow comes out of nowhere and kills him. Can you all imagine what happened next? I think you can.

The parody was created and posted by pontuspontuspontus. If you want to check out more of their work, clink on the link to their page here. So, there you have it: 24 middle-ages style. Really gives new meaning to going medevil on someone.

Now, I wanna know what all of you think. Did they do a good job? Did you find it lacking somehow? Post your thoughts in the comments and we’ll get a little conversation going. Until next time… take care!
