CTU the Rookie (Chapter 1)
Okay the first thing I ask, before you read this, is that you head on over here and watch the first chapter of CTU the Rookie sponsored by Degree for Men.
Okay you’ve all watched it right? Good. First off, just so people know, this is all a giant advertisement.
Here’s a quote from The Hollywood Reporter:
Unilever’s Degree Men has announced a multiplatform marketing deal with 20th Century Fox Television’s hit series “24″ that includes two original online short films, TV ads and an online animated series prequel with “24″-related themes and creative content as well as in-store promotions tied to “24″ DVD releases.
So, finding out that this is just a glorified commercial, helps me relax a little (how this is going to help sell deodorant is anybody’s guess).
CTU the Rookie follows the day of Jason, a CTU “rookie” just looking for his shot. Instead the entire first chapter, which is all of about five minutes, is of him getting coffee. He also saves a sweet old lady from getting nailed by a car.
The acting is commercial acting at best, and along with what I thought it was going to be “based on the trailer.”
This subject struck up quite the controversy between me and a reader who referred to himself as fly fisher. Fly fisher was angry that I judged CTU the Rookie by the trailers, and said:
I think it’s an internet show, I hope to everything that it isn’t an actual TV show because it won’t last 2 episodes
Fly fisher told me:
Aaron,
My comments are just about as ridiculous as your TV analysis. GET THE POINT! Oh by the way a bunch of other spinoffs work in the TV industry Frasier, Melrose Place, all of the Star Trek spinoffs, Laverne and Shirley, get a clue. You name all of the ones that dont make it but not the ones that do. Like I said earlier you cannot judge something from a trailer. AND NO CRITICS DONT JUDGE FROM TRAILERS THEY MAKE JUDGEMENTS AFTER THE HAVE SEEN THE FINAL PRODUCT! I have never seen Siskel and Ebert make a judgement from trailers, if they have let me know when they did. Well you are young, so seriously you need to get some experience before you become a critic, because right now you will be homeless soon if you dont make a career change!
He also took it upon himself to create two other names in the comments to agree with him, but used the same email and IP address.
Well, I’m happy to announce that CTU Rookie is not a spinoff of 24, rather a gigantic marketing ploy to get everyone to buy deodorant. Enjoy it fly fisher, yeah it’s going places, hope you enjoy your deodorant.

Aaron, your link is bad, so I didn’t watch it. (You should fix the link!) Also, even if your link was good, I probably still wouldn’t watch it. You told us earlier that you’re watching it for us so we don’t have to. Also, I’m heavily stocked-up on Old Spice, so I’m good.
I did search for it (unsuccessfully), and all I came up with was an interview with Mary Lynn (Chloe) about her doing Porn. It was a side of Chloe I never wanted to see. http://www.fox.com/video/?cat_id=24&clip_id=24_chloe_int_red_carpet_hi&
And, I’m pretty sure Siskel is dead, so if he made a judgement of something from a trailer, an entire movie, or a deodorant commerical I’d be pretty freaked out.

Wow that S.a.m. is right in every way. And clever and witty, too! And handsome.

The link is fixed.

Ond last coment on what fly fisher had to say. he’s upset because Aaron was judging hings by previews… and yet he wrote “It’s supposed to be bad ass”… isn’t it he doing the same thing? i don’t really think he has a problem with what Aaron is doing, i think he has a problem with his opinion, and just doesn’t know an inteligent way to express it. but hey… that’s just my opinion. also i think it’s kinda funny that it turned out to be a comercial.

Hey Aaron I stumbled on your web site looking for more info on the rookie. you seem to be really hostile about this subject. Let me let U in on a little clue, ALL TV SHOWS ARE A BIG ADVERTISEMENT. They are all geared towards selling products! There would be no shows if it weren’t for the products and commercials. S.A.M. is funny and really out of your league intellectually(sp?). So i probably wouldn’t get in to a war of words with him. Anyways, I happen to like the rookie and if you look at other sites and forums everyone else seems to also. We 24 fans are willing to watch anything having to do with the show especialy the rookie, it helps us get our fix. I think web t.v. is going to be the new thing. I know that I spend more time in front of my computer than my t.v.. Your age really shows in your comments, so you should probably go to class, drink some beer, and enjoy college instead of writing on the internet. As for me and my friends we will continue to watch and enjoy the rookie.
Cheers

United,
I’m not in a war of words with S.A.M. If you noticed S.A.M. thinks that the Rookie is stupid too.
Aaron.

United,
THANK YOU for my entertainment for the day! That was the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. Anyone who has the guts to add an “sp?” to the end of the word “intellectually” is a hero in my book! (you were right, by the way). How old are you, mate? Your writing style (not capitalizing first letters of sentences or the word “I”, etc) makes you seem like a teenager. If you’re older than Aaron, you should try to sound like it when you write. Seriously, though, don’t get so annoyed about peoples’ opinions on the internet. Everyone has an opinion, and most people think everyone elses’ suck, so there’s no sense in getting riled up about it. Let Aaron make fun of The Rookie all he wants. He’ll be sorry when terrorists attack and he didn’t use DEGREE FOR MEN to keep him cool!

yOu ArE WeLcOmE S.A.M. . I’m just a wee bit lazy when it comes to typing. You are right about opinions. I have my degree for men on right now, so bring on them terrorists! Oh Yeah, Aaron needs to learn how to laugh at himself more.
Adios,
