Old Characters, New Stories

by

Good morning, everyone. This post discusses a returning character who will be a major part of Season 7. If you don’t want to know any details, read no further. Instead, why don’t you head over here and I’ll see you next time. If you don’t mind reading more, continue on…

So, I’m sure if you follow the media (which some don’t to make sure they don’t get spoiled) Tony Almeida is back and he’s going to be working on the other side of the good/evil fence. I’m not quite sure what to think of all that. In an interview I discussed before, one of the producers mentioned that they didn’t use a silent clock with Tony. He claims they did that on purpose to leave the door open for a possible return. Fair enough. If I’m remembering right, there were quite a few angry fans over that one. They felt he should’ve gotten the respect of the silent clock. Still, it did look pretty bad for Tony when we last left him. I’m trying to figure out how on earth they’re going to explain that one. If you all have an ideas on all that, I’d love to read about it! Feel free to post in the comments below.

No matter how they do it and how good (or not good) the explanation may be, it’s done and I can’t help but be slightly intrigued by it. It’s almost like when Faith was brought onto Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In that case, there were two Slayers with the same powers, but they went in totally opposite directions with them(Buffy saves the world, while Faith ends up killing and being a part of a plot to destroy it- or, at least the town). Almost like a mirror into what could’ve been had Buffy been a different person morally. I can’t help but see a similar thing going on here. You’ve got two CTU agents who have been through a lot during their careers. They’ve suffered and each lost wives because of the work. While Jack’s never really faltered in doing his duty every time that phone rings, Tony has apparently decided to help the bad guys in their plot against the country/government he likely feels is responsible for all his problems. Should be great to see their interactions. So what do you all think about Tony going bad? Do you think it’s gonna lead to something great or is this a ‘jump the shark’ moment for you? Comment and let me know. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time.

I want to know how Tony is still alive after being stuck in the chest with a large syringe.

I don’t really see this as a jump the shark moment. Whenever a moment like that happens, you just say that’s dumb. But, when I saw Tony on the previews, I got excited. I liked his character. So, I don’t know if I’m biased cuz I like the show, but I have no problem with the producers bringing him back, so long as its not just for a small, bit role. Cuz if that’s the case, then its totally lame and done strictly for a small ratings boost.
