FOX to Sell First 4 Episodes of Season 6 on DVD

by Aaron

I’ve been hearing rumors around the internet, and it’s sounding like FOX is going to be selling the first 4 episodes of this upcoming season on DVD the Tuesday after the Sunday/Monday four hour season premiere.

To tell you the truth I’m not sure what FOX is trying to accomplish with this. If it’s an effort to try and curb the bittorrent crew out there, I just don’t see it working.

The disc is going to cost $14.98, which is a little under half of what you’d pay for the entire DVD once it came out (Amazon always sells pre-oder DVD’s at a very discounted price).

I think it’s an innovative idea, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t understand the overall thinking of this plan. This will not stop the bittorrent people out there. And are the networks REALLY worried about bittorrents? The amount of people that actually have a Tivo or DVR and use those to skip commercials seem to dwarf the amount of people that know how to effectively download and use bittorrents.

I’ll be interested to see what sort of numbers they put up after this. Like how many sold. It’ll be interesting.

Extras you can expect on Season 5

by Aaron

So what are some of the extras you can expect on the season 5 DVD which comes out December 5th?

Here’s a list:
* season 6 trailer
* season 6 prequel (probably like the mini-episodes on the season 4 and season 5 DVD sets, which give us glimpses of Jack Bauer’s life between the end of last season and the beginning of the next one)
* short featurette on the supporting players of “24″
* short featurette called “unsung heroes: 24 camera department”
* music by Sean Callery
* short featurette on President Logan’s L.A. retreat
* extra DVD-ROM features
* “100th episode reel” (I’m not sure what this is)
* an excerpt from the book “24: behind the scenes”
* 23 extended or deleted scenes that you can watch with or without a commentary track

Add in some commentary from Kiefer, Cassar, and the rest of the 24 gang, and you’ve got yourself a smoking new DVD. I’ve got seasons 1-4 and this will most likely be on my Christmas list.

Last Year’s Preview of 24

by Aaron

Last year right after the season ended they showed this preview for Season 6. It’s short and sweet, but lets take a trip back in time and watch it shall we…

New 24 Pics Surfacing

by Aaron

First off check out this sweet Promo cast picture that I found over at 24podcast.net (which is a sweet site BTW)…

You can notice a few things from this. Seems like Chole’s husband, the weird British guy from the end of last season, is back.

Milo from the very first season seems to have returned. Where’s Curtis or Aaron? I hope they’re still on the show. They are two of my favorite. It’ll be weird not having Tony around :(

The check out the blog there. Some sweet pictures of Kiefer getting ready to do a stunt in front of a house about to be blown up.

Kiefer Drunk, Attacking a Christmas Tree

by Aaron

Kiefer Sutherland plays stone cold Jack Bauer so well, but what’s he like when he’s just Kiefer?

Well, a documentary about him and a rock band he managed aired on MTV a few days back, and now the infamous video of my attacking a Christmas tree in a hotel lobby has finally surfaced. Take a look…

Yeah apparently Kiefer’s quite the crazy drunk.

President Logan is Coming Back?

by Aaron

This was news to me. I thought the man would’ve been hung for treason after last season, but apparently the whinning little good-for-nothing ex-President is going to be back in a recurring role according to this article on Reuters.

I almost got to the point, last season, where every time President Logan was on the screen I wanted to throw something at my TV. I couldn’t stand the site of him. He was like a little worm that always seemed to slip through Jack’s grasp. Even at the very end he sold poor Jack out to the Chinese.

Special Extended Trailer for Season 6

by Aaron

As I was browsing around 24’s official website on Fox.com. I noticed that they had a link that said ‘Special Extended Trailer for Season 6.’ It made me curious. So, I watched it.

Although, not much has changed, and really the only difference I can tell is there’s a part where Jack seems to kick a suicide bomber out of a subway while it’s moving and then the man explodes, it still seems about the same. But, it’s worth watching again and again, just because it’s one of the most intense trailers I’ve seen for anything, TV or movie.

Peter MacNicol is on Season 6 of 24

by Aaron

I have NO idea what role he’s actually playing, but Peter MacNicol cracks me up and I don’t know what to think about him on a show like 24.

I remember him from Ghostbusters 2, and his most wonderful line saying “EVIL?”

Eddie Izzard Quits Cast of 24

by Aaron

It seems british comedian couldn’t stand the wrath of Jack Bauer (actually it was “scheduling conflicts”).

Reports are that Eddie spent one day filming then quit the show. That’s wierd. Wouldn’t you know before you filmed one day that you wouldn’t be able to do anymore? Well, I don’t know how the TV business works, all I can say is that this doesn’t count on Jack’s Kill Count.

24 rolls forward!

Kiefer Talks 24 Movie Details

by Aaron

For all of you that are concerned about how the 24 movie is going to play out, here’s the skinny.
I found an article on National Ledger.

The movie will be a 2 hour representation of a ‘24′ hour day.
Kiefer explains:

“It will be weird because the film will be a two-hour representation of the 24 day, which will really give us an incredible amount of freedom,” he says.

I don’t know what to think about this. The whole hour by hour thing is what made the show ground-breaking and original. Take away that, and what do you have? The Sentinel? Please, anything but that!

As of right now I have faith in the 24 team.

But, this could truly make or break season 8. As the movie will be placed between seasons 7 and 8, if people think the movie was awful. Then they’ll be less likely to watch the upcoming season.

Cassar Discusses Season 6

by Aaron

It is hard to keep finding new material on a show that hasn’t yet started. But, I’m out there trying to find all I can.

I found this article over at comingsoon.net. It’s an interview with Jon Cassar (Director/Creator) and Kim Raver about the upcoming season of 24.

My favorite part of the interview, was when the interviewer asks Cassar if they’re going to do another video from season 5 to 6, like they did from season 4 to 5. If you don’t know what I’m talking about they did a short 10 minute video segment linking season 4 to 5 which could only be found on the season 4 DVDs.

Jon Cassar
Q: Are you planning another 10 minutes video link between season 5 and 6?
A: That’s not a 100% sure right now but yes, we’re planning to do so, especially to solve out how Jack came back from China because if you had to show it in the series, it would be at least a 15 hours flight and that would be pretty boring to watch (laughs).

Jon also talks about the 24 movie slated for a 2008 opening. Which will fit nicely between seasons 7 and 8 of the television series. He lets spill that the only “for sure” cast member for the movie is Kiefer.

Meaning we have a lot more Jack to watch :)

Countdown to Season 6 Widget

by Aaron

Your Very Own 24 Timer

Just found a neat little widget that you can download that counts down the Months, Days, Hours, Minutes, and Seconds until the season premiere.

If you’re obsessed as I am with this show you can get your timer here.

I just hope when it gets to the end it does that little *bump bum bump bum bump bum* ticking noise it makes on TV, that’d be great.

Powers Boothe New 24 VP

by Aaron

Powers Boothe of Deadwood fame has been cast as the new Vice President in this upcoming season of 24.

Powers Boothe

I’m not a watcher of Deadwood, but from what I’ve heard people really like this guy. How can you not? I like him just because of his name. I would be even more impressed if that was his given name at birth, instead of a stage name. Either way it’s a great name.

Here’s the question. Will he be good or bad?

I’m hoping that this year will either be “mole”-free or a “mole” in a very original place. I don’t know how that’s going to happen.

Disecting the Trailer for Season 6

by Aaron

Well, seems we are going to be getting Jack back from the Chinese. I wonder why though… Why would the Chinese give Jack back, unless they were getting something in return? That’s interesting. Also, it looks as if Jack’s been through quite a lot over there in China as a prisoner, sporting his long hair and Manson-esque beard. And what’s all this talk of “Jack must be sacrificed,” in the trailer?
Jack doesn't look happy, watch out!

Lets face it we know Jack’s not going to bite the dust this season. There’s still a 24 movie in the works, that’s due out in 2008. Jack’s already been pronounced dead twice anyway. Death can’t even kill Jack Bauer.

Wayne Palmer (President David Palmer’s Brother) seems to be the President now. Bill Buchanan, Curtis Manning, and the ever-scowling Chloe seem to be back also.

The trailer was amazingly fun to watch. Better than most movie trailers I’ve seen. If you haven’t checked it out, go check it out now….HERE.
