Recap: 3-4 PM
Hello, again. So let’s talk the latest episode, shall we?
Rouge CTU (and FBI)
Not really rouge anymore. They’ve now joined up with the President and Ethan, as well as Agent Moss at the FBI. I’m thinking that wasn’t really the smartest move after an operation to rescue the First Gentleman goes very wrong. The Matobu decoy they sent to try and buy some time ended up getting blown up by Dubaku’s people, along with the agent who was driving him. Meanwhile, Moss isn’t too happy when Renee goes along with Jack’s idea to hold Vossler’s wife and kid at gunpoint to get the dirty SS agent to talk. Surprisingly (or not, since this is 24), Vossler breaks and reveals where Henry is being held. When Jack and Renee arrive, a gunfight ensues that gets Henry shot. They better hope he survives if they want the President on their side. Also, Janis calls out Sean on his fling, while Sean spends a lot of the episode complaining about how they were kept out of the loop on the Matobu rescue.
The White House
After her husband gets kidnaped and the bad guys make a threat on his life, Ethan tells her that no one will blame her for backing down on Sangala. Even though you can see she really wants to, she doesn’t. She thins it would be completely unfair to have the American people sacrifice (the plane crashes, chemical plant) if she can’t as well. Meanwhile, she’s met with the rouges and has demanded answers. They explain about the corruption in the government. Something that is quickly confirmed by Ethan when he comes in to tell her that Gedge was found dead alongside Samantha and was probably part of the plot against Henry. She agrees to work with them and they put the ill-fated mission I mentioned before into place. I think it was better when Jack and Co. were working alone.
The Bad Guys
So, Dubaku has a double life going on (complete with waitress girlfriend) that is starting to get in the way of his work. Girlfriend wants him to come by for dinner, but he can’t. Being a terrorist is busy work, after all. She pouts a little, but is totally sweet and understanding. She’s also very defensive of him when her sister starts in on not trusting him. I, meanwhile, start trying to calculate about how fast they’re going to join Vossler and others in the afterlife. You know the nosy sister is going to get it at least. Especially after she calls and informs him she knows he’s not who he says he is and demands that he break up with her sister. Yeah, that’s totally going to work out for her. My guess is he’s heading over there right now. Later, Dubaku is informed that the ‘prime minister’ isn’t getting out of the car that was supposed to deliver him to them. He realizes they’ve been had and gives the order to take care of them and the First Gentleman. That last part may have just been stopped by Jack and Renee, who blow through his minions pretty quickly. Now they just gotta hope 911 gets there in time to save Henry.
Well, that’s it for now. I’ll leave you with a preview for next time, thanks to Jonas Hodges:

Looks like there’s a scene set at night in the preview, must be something happening in Sangala, or really bad continuity.

I didn’t get a chance to look at it yet, but I hope it is just a Sangala scene. I know 24 messes up quite a bit with the real-time aspect, but I can’t remember them ever messing up on something like that.
