Season Premiere Date!
No spoilers in this post. Just a little head’s up. FOX had their upfront presentation recently (ya know… where the networks all show off what wonderful stuff they have to advertisers so the advertisers will throw money their way). During the presentation, they announced that 24 has an official premiere date.
Season 8 of the show will begin on January 17, 2010 at 9 PM Eastern time (yes, that’s a small change in time. They usually start at 8 PM when there’s two episodes). As always, there will be a two-night, 4 episode premiere. I gotta say, I love FOX for this. I admit I am not the biggest FOX fan (some left over Titus, Married with Children and Futurama bitterness left over. Those shows were treated really badly towards the end of their runs) but here is an area where they get it totally right.
I think it’s great that the recognize this show benefits from a lack of reruns and it’s easier to follow if you don’t have weeks (or months) seperating new episodes all the time. I do wish episodes would get rerun at some point later, but I love an uniterrupted run. What do you guys think? Do you think FOX is right in the 24 scheduling? Are there any other shows you think could benefit from this treatment? Comment and let me know! In the meantime, have a great weekend and I’ll see y’all again Monday for another week of news, reviews and other stuff. I leave you with a spoof of 24 that was posted by jonjivan. It’s called ‘240′:

I agree that Fox is doing a great job in making sure the season runs uninterrupted. I do wish they would rerun the season at the end of the run so I could go back and look for any inconsistencies or clues that I missed the first time. I guess they are trying to boost the DVD sales since season 8 went on sale right after the end of the season.

Same here. I have always wanted them to do a rerun marathon or something like FX used to do. Or at least something similar. You’re right, though- it probably is about DVD sales. Must’ve worked, though! I went over to the local Target that day (before noon) and every single space devoted to the season 7 DVD had a spot for a rain check. I asked a cashier in case they just hadn’t been set out yet and was told that they had all sold. Crazy huh?
