Thoughts on 1 AM to 2 AM
Well, they promised it was gonna be game changer with a twist ending. They were right. Before I get into that, let’s talk about the rest of the episode.
FBI/Former CTU
So, yet another episode with Jack stuck being an office guy, helping to coordinate while everyone else is in the field. I’m still not sure how I feel about that, as it’s really weird to see Jack out of the action after over 6 seasons of him leading the field operations. Still, it’s working somehow and I like how he came up with the plan to deal with Starkwood’s missiles and actually talked the President into going along with it. Lord knows her mind isn’t exactly easy to change. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out Renee didn’t actually call Kim in. She’d already been in DC trying to contact Jack. Speaking of nice surprises… I really loved that scene between Kim and Jack. She seems like she’s changed quite a bit and might actually be something other than annoying if she comes back again. My guess is she ignores Jack and does the procedure anyway. I was actually kind of expecting a scene like that, but it didn’t happen (yet).
White House
The stubborn one is folding quite a bit lately. Is it just me, or is she the only President (expect the Palmers) to comes around to Jack before it’s all over and actually seem to like him? In either case, I really liked her handling of Jonas during their meeting and her having him arrested after the missiles were blown up. She’s really turned into an interesting character ever since the Sangala debate ended for good. Oddly enough, though, Olivia was completely absent in an episode where Hodges comes to the White House. Clue she’s a baddie or coincidence? You be the judge.
The Bad Guys
Speaking of baddies… what the ?? It’s no secret I’ve been very suspicious of Tony most of the season. He’s given one too many shady looks and been absent one too many times this year. Still, the past couple of episodes I had actually come around to thinking he had to be a good guy after all. And now they have him kill Larry and run off with a bad guy carrying the bio weapon? Pretty surprising. Unless there’s yet another twist on the way, I guess we’ll be saying goodbye to Tony before the day is over. You know Jack won’t let him walk after this. Jonas continues to be odd and entertaining and I’m interested to see what kind of stuff he might try to get himself out of custody.
So that’s about it. What’d you all think of the episode? I’m awaiting your comments! Take care and see ya tomorrow.

Your Tony suspicion kept my Tony-enthusiasm low enough that I wasn’t completely broadsided by the “reveal.” Still shocking when Tony held the shooter at bay with a hand, but not screaming at the TV “WHAT?!”

I think Tony is just working out of his own self interest; i.e. he knew the missiles were wrong, but now this biological weapon is his bargaining chip for himself and negotiations.
Or I could be totally off base. What a great episode, Jack didn’t do everything!

Very true, Myian. It’s kind of interesting to see Jack on the other side lately. For once, other people are out there in the field doing the major work.
As for Tony- For some reason, I get this feeling that Tony was being completely truthful with Jack when talking about joining Emerson’s crew and why he did it. I think he’s all about revenge and greed at this point. I’m also guessing that Tony must be working for someone above, and in direct conflict with, Hodges that Hodges himself might not be aware of. Otherwise, I can’t make sense of them torturing than playing Tony for a fool. Anyone else wanna join in and tell us what they think?

Ya know the funny part? I had pretty much lost my suspicion of Tony in the past couple of episodes between the torture, being played by Seaton and all. I’m kinda still trying to make sense of all that given this big reveal. I guess I should’ve known better after all the years of twists and turns going all the way back to Nina in Day 1. She seemed like she couldn’t possibly be evil based on some of her actions as well.

I don’t like this “twist.” It feels like a twist just for the sake of having a twist. Don’t know where they are headed now.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Noah Daniels turns out to be involved, but I would absolutely freak out if they brought back Philip Bauer.
