Top Ten 24 Events to Look Forward to in 2007: #10
Over the next 10 days I’m going to list the top ten 24 events that I’m most excited for in this upcoming season. It’s going to be a mixture of things I already know are going to happen, and I just can’t wait to see them play out, and things that I hope will happen.
#10. I’ll be waiting to find out if my favorite Ghostbusters villain, Peter MacNicols (Dr. Janosz Poha) will end up being a good casting choice. For some reason I just don’t see the guy doing a show as dramatic as 24. Maybe it’s just because ever since I was a kid I loved Ghostbusters. When Ghostbusters 2 came out the image of MacNicols saying “Evil in that high, whiney voice has been burned into my brain.
Then I think back to Ally McBeal, and his insane way of acting completely unsure of himself. I just don’t know how he’s going to mesh with 24 as a whole. But, then again I thought the same thing about Sean Astin last year and he did a pretty swell job. I was glad that he was killed off midway through the season though. Though he personally didn’t irritate me, his character did. He was a wannabe George Mason without the sharp wit.
What does everyone else think of MacNicols? Given we don’t know the exact role he will play in the show, what do you think of the casting choice as a whole?

I’m not that thrilled with it. I too remember him in Ally McBeal and I hated him.

I think Peter is awesome and a great actor. I also remember his from Ghostbusters, primarily.
I wonder about the casting choice of Rick Schroeder. Now that’s weird. Will Doogie Howser, be on Season 7?

Why is Rick Schroeder weird? Did you never see him on NYPDBlue? He did a great job on that show, and you can’t say that it was a “light show” by any means.

My wife loved Ally McBeal and she kind of ruined it for me when she told me “The Biscuit” was on 24, but so far I think he’s doing a good job.

Let me be the first to predict the ultimate villain in this season
Mcnicol’s character,
The way he wants to set up internment camps, he feels that if a terrorist bomb goes off it will get him what he wants (patriot gone berserk)
The way his eyes were shifting about with each news installment coming in gave it away for me)
of course this will not be the first time there has ben a conspiracy in the white house, but maybe they are on a one-note writing block
and on a personal note, given the hatred of the white house with current liberals, the writers love to make those positions villians so look for that later in the season….

I sure do have mixed feelings about McNicol’s character. I started out hating the smarmy guy but after the revelation he was playing Reid all along, I’m growing a soft spot for him. But, I yelled at him when Reid took the duct-tape off his mouth long enough for Tom to say he was against the plan from the beginning. Who in their right mind insults the could-be killer while taped up and no where to go!?! Idiot! If it were me, I’d leave the insult for when the table’s are turned and I have the gun, so to speak. heh
He must be a pretty good actor if I can’t figure out whether he’s gonna end up a good guy, or a baddie. Time will tell.
