Top Ten 24 Events to Look Forward to in 2007: #1

by Aaron

Not to look too far forward, or to be excited that at sometime season 6 will actually end, but I think that the top moment to look forward to this season is the season finale.

If there’s one thing that 24 knows how to do it’s how to end a season. A season hasn’t gone by where the season finale failed to deliever. Usually during the season finale there’s only a half hour left and Jack is still racing around trying to tie up any loose ends and kill any left over bad guys.

The best season finales in my opinion come from seasons 1, 3, & 5. I’m now going to talk about them in detail so if you haven’t seen these seasons then please don’t follow after the jump.

In season 1 Jack was informed by a traitorous Nina that Kim’s body was found floating in the harbor. Jack not knowing that Nina was betraying him, went in guns blazing killing everyone in his path. So, the main bad guys, the Drezdans are dead, not much time left but Nina is still out there. Nail-biting up the the very last second as Jack chases Nina down in her car and almost puts two in her head, before George Mason and Tony arrive to stop him. But, it’s not over, Jack then finds that Nina actually has killed Teri and left her in one of the many tech rooms of CTU.

Season 1’s finale ran all the way up until the last second and didn’t end the way you expected it to end. Instead Teri died and we are left watching Jack cry. Very powerful ending.

Season 3’s finale was more action-packed as you had Jack and Chase, running down the last virus canister. Steven Saunders was dead, but there still was work to be done. Jack and Chase cornered the man with the last canister in a school where, Chase gets in a fight with him and the virus canister ends up getting clamped to Chase’s wrist.

Man, was I surprised when Jack grabbed that axe off the wall and chopped Chase’s hand clean off then ran the virus down the hall and stuck it in a sealed fridge before time expired. I couldn’t believe it. One of the most surprising things I’ve ever seen on television. Yup, just chop off his hand.

Season 5 was unforgettable for one reason. After doing everything humanly possible to stop the terrorists, even bringing down the President himself Jack is kidnapped by the Chinese and last we see is a slow boat headed off with Jack onboard. What a way to end a season.

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed this top 10 list. I’ll do a quick review of all 10 of them a little later on.

You are so right about those being the best finales! Some of my favorite scenes were mentioned in your entry. I loved it how Jack had a nervous breakdown and killed everyone in his path after thinking Kim had been killed!

And Chase’s hand … man. Even though it’s just a show I was amazed by the entire scene. Nothing affected me more than when Jack had to put a bullet in Ryan Chappelle’s head. That was messed up! I just really really hope Season 6 doesn’t end with Jack dying. It’s my biggest fear.

    nicole,
I can’t see Jack dying. I know they’ve threatened the audience in the commercials “For America to survive Jack Bauer must be sacrificed,” but I just don’t see the show going on without Jack Bauer.

I would lose a ton of the audience. He is the show.
