Update on Kill Contest

by Aaron

It sometimes is a bit hard to clarify what is a kill and what isn’t.

Obviously Jack biting the terrorist in the neck was a kill, (a fantastic one at that). But, the question comes about Jack kicking the guy off the train. Was that a kill?

For purposes of the contest we are ruling that it WASN’T a kill of Jack’s. The man took his own life, Jack only made sure that he didn’t kill anyone else along with it.

  4. blogenlust.net » Towards A Framework For Quantifying Jack Bauer’s Kills Says:

[...] The last kill candidate occurred at the end of the second hour when Jack kicked the suicide bomber out of the subway car just as he detonated his bomb.  The important thing to consider here is that the bomber was in the process of detonating the bomb just as Jack was kicking him out of the car.  Therefore, because the bomber clearly intended and tried to kill himself (and did) without Jack’s intervention, I think we cannot count it as a kill for Jack.  Now, had the bomb failed to detonate when Jack kicked him out, that would obviously be a kill for Jack because you’re not going to survive a fall from a moving subway. Follow me? [...]

    78 kills

I was wondering how you’d address that one and I agree with your decision. That man killed himself. Jack merely kicked him out the window to prevent him from killing others. Good call!

I must say… Jack really needs to step it up. He’s only killed two people in the first four episodes… TWO!!!!
